[Today has been a damn good day for training. The bat and bird actually work quite well together now that they both respond to Archer's commands without needing attack names shouted at them. He's quite pleased with his work and originally intended to rest up for a bit - ah, but Kimblee would have something to say to the entire network, wouldn't he? Time to go figure out just what he's rambling about now!]
[Though Archer is immediately distracted once he enters the area by the two new chimeras. Archer has the Murkrow on his shoulder, the bat flying behind him, and is still carrying around that damn egg; but it looks as though Kimblee has obtained more chimeras.]
I thought we were going to keep our number of chimeras equal. It wouldn't be fair to battle with an advantage in numbers. [Though he'll approach to examine the... fox-thing curiously - it's far more interesting than the pig derping it up on the ground.]
Then I would suggest you either keep up with the raising stakes, or find another person to battle with. I see no reason why I should delay my own activities because you're taking your time.
[Excuse him while he side-eyes that egg a bit, though; how long ago did you obtain that thing?
As it is, however, the Vulpix will just be the little prince Kimblee is raising him into by looking over at Archer for a few moments before seeming to decide it's not worth his time to really investigate, instead pressing into Kimblee's arms a bit and pawing at him. Clearly, he doesn't like having attention taken, here.]
[Oh you bitch...! Archer narrows his eyes at that, but he doesn't respond immediately. He was told that they could only obtain six chimeras, but if Kimblee already has four, he really does need to work on raising the two he has and hopefully the egg will hatch soon...]
[The... fox-thing in Kimblee's arms is actually cute (probably because it does sort of look like a cat), and certainly an interesting addition.] What is this one? I've never seen a chimera similar to it. Where did you get it?
[...Kimblee was never informed of this six-chimera limit, and if it turns out to be true he will lineface, but for now he seems content to...look down at that Vulpix and make a quiet chiding noise at it, because the incessant pawing-at is more than slightly obnoxious; stop it, you.]
The species name is Vulpix; it's a fire-type. It was a recent purchase, actually - there was someone selling large amounts of these creatures, from what I understand they were bred to some sort of standard.
[He'll just be tipping his head in the direction of Rolling Pig over there.]
That's where he came from as well. Ground and ice, and a ridiculous amount of moves already.
[...Okay, somehow or other that fox is managing to make Kimblee look cute. That's not okay. Only Kimbley was allowed to look cute-- except he never did anyway, shut up.]
[Anyway, Archer glances at the fox and then the pig as Kimblee points them out.] That's interesting. I suppose you heard about this over the network? [He'll just have to keep an eye on it then! Can't let Kimblee get all the powerful chimeras, now can we?] Have you started training them yet? Are they any good?
My, my, there's no need to be so impatient; are you always going to insist on asking me multiple questions at once, or will you relax eventually? Don't worry, I'm hardly rude enough to wander away from you mid-sentence.
[Despite that, however, his tone is light; almost teasing, really.]
To answer you, however - yes, I heard about this over the network, and no, I haven't begun training them just yet; they just...came into my possession recently, and I've been trying to get an idea of what they're like. It was pointed out that these chimeras have definite temperaments to them, along with definite strengths and weaknesses from the beginning; as such, I've been keeping an eye on them.
[We will not get into the fact that he has effectively hatched a baby fox from an egg. We do not discuss this.]
[That will get Archer to huff and fold his arms, glancing away. Oh come on, he can't help it that he's curious and refuses to shut up! Still, he recognizes the tone of voice and his own irritation is merely a front in response to it.]
I see. Have you discovered anything about them, then? Aside from the fact that this... Vulpix evidently likes to be carried. [He notices the stressed words and wonders about them, but Archer doesn't ask any further questions. It's not necessary; if there's something wrong, he's certain Kimblee will tell him.]
[...Archer, you have entirely too much faith in what he may or may not be willing to tell you. Entirely too much.]
The way they engage other chimeras when not under direct order to attack tends to vary, though that would be expected; Carlisle [...have another gesture toward that pig] seems more the sort to attempt asserting dominance; there isn't much wariness there at all, which is odd in comparison to the others I've been raising.
[Basically, that pig doesn't afraid of anything and that is clearly the coolest thing ever. Or, at the very least, it's a useful thing.
However, Kimblee quickly turns his attention to that fox he's carrying around, his expression somewhat reproachful as he continues.]
Whereas, to be blunt, this one seems to be incapable of socializing altogether - ah, don't give me that...! [That would be in response to that really indignant sulking the damn thing is now doing.] There's no need to be rude about it; it's blatantly true.
[Oh come on now, you're an alternate version of his dead best friend, clearly you wouldn't lie to him! ...Yes, those thoughts are connected somehow. Shut up.]
That is interesting. [Oh, and Kimblee's named his chimeras too? Well, it works better than calling them by species name, right? Hmm. He might have to consider that.]
You know, one could argue that your remark was rude rather than this one's reaction. [Archer's clearly teasing though and he waves the comment off airily.] Regardless, it is interesting to watch how different they are; these two are certainly displaying unique temperaments.
[The Murkrow is managing to smirk somehow despite having a beak; clearly she's quite pleased with herself for... whatever reason. The bat is on the ground now, wings wrapped around himself and he's clearly sulking. He still hasn't gotten over the fact that Archer replaced him as the resident shoulder-beast.]
[...Archer, that bird is giving smugfox here a run for his money and that bat is roughly as tsun as you are. Clearly, the chimeras do seem to resemble their owner, at least in your case.]
His name is Dorian; at the very least, it should serve to make battling less grating against certain opponents, given that I'm certainly not the only one who owns these sorts of things.
[He'll just be glancing down at that bat of yours again after he speaks; it really is pouting hard down there.]
Well, that one certainly doesn't seem pleased with you, does he.
[Well...! That's actually true. Huh. Who would have thought?]
What type is it? [It's red so... Fire-type? But how can a fox be a Fire-type, that doesn't make any sense...]
Oh? No, he's not. He was rather fond of riding on my shoulder prior to his evolution. [Archer half-turns to address the bat.] You're far too heavy for that now, you know. I can't carry you around anymore, so I suggest you get used to it.
[That earns a displeased noise from the bat, who turns away and continues sulking. Archer rolls his eyes and returns his attention to Kimblee.] Honestly. If he wasn't nearly my height and didn't weigh so damn much, I'd be perfectly fine with letting him rest on my shoulder.
[Okay, so red = fire-type by default, according to you. ...your logic is amazing, Archer.]
He's a fire-type, actually.
[...the fact that you were correct notwithstanding.]
And really, were I you, I would be more concerned with the fact that it's almost entirely mouth and that would be situated directly behind my head, but to each their own.
[Well...! Come on, what else could that thing be?]
That would certainly be useful against the Gym here. Do you intend to challenge it after you've raised this one substantially?
[Oh, the teeth? Archer glances at the bat again before smirking.] I'm certain he wouldn't hurt me. He might not be acting like it now, but he seems rather fond of me.
[That will earn a glare from the bat. No he doesn't like you, you jackass.]
[...ah, right, the Gyms; he'll just be shooting a wary look at that bat one more time before continuing.]
Perhaps, although part of the training process will be seeing whether or not he's suited for it or not. [HIS STATS. THEY FAIL.] I'll be raising him either way; when it comes to the Gyms, however, I'm content to bide my time.
Suited for it? I would assume any chimera you capture would be capable of taking care of itself. There's no reason to believe that it wouldn't be able to handle battling.
[...Wait, hold on. Did you just say you're not eager to return home? Because that's what it sounded like!]
Why would you want to wait? Surely you have pressing matters at home to attend to; I doubt spending any more time than is absolutely necessary here will help any.
I've already told you my thoughts on these Gyms, Archer. Until the rumor is proven or disproven, participating in this challenge is just as much of a waste of time as not doing so. Besides, I'm not saying that I'm refusing to train these chimeras at all - if the rumor ever is proven, I would want their levels to be high enough to manage to defeat the leaders of these places...and there would be nothing stopping me from taking on several of these Gyms in one go, now, would there?
And on the topic of defeating these leaders - surely you can't be serious in assuming that all chimeras would be capable of such things. If you give a random man a gun, that doesn't make him a soldier, does it? If you send that man through training, is there a guarantee you'll be able to make a soldier out of him? Or do some break under the pressure? Really, Archer, apply logic to the situation for once; your assumptions will end you one day, otherwise.
