Safe and sound in Calderas
Hello all,
So it has been a while and I am in a hurry which sucks. But here´s the low down. I am living in Claderas. It is an hour from Antigua high up in the mountains. I take an old US school bus to get there.
I got there on tuesday and and wednesday I went to a birth. It was quite awesome. It feels surreal that I am here living in a place where the school doesn´t even have computers and I am the only gringa. A lot of the men of the town are gone working in the states. Some are gone from their families for years at a time. They go to the states, risk their lives, just to make enough money so their families can live.
I love the family that I am living with. I am getting used to heating up water to take a ¨shower¨and not putting toliet paper in the toliet. They are super nice to me and love to look at my pictures and the things I brought with me. It is weird to be viewed as rich. I don´t like it. But they take care of me well here.
Well I gotta run. I love you all. And PS DON´T SEND packages. It costs like a million dollars to get them out of customs. Letters are great though!
