Well beings as my origen is oh so midwesterly, I am managing to discover some interesting new things apart from my work at the embassy.
The weekend was great. I went out with Mia and her friends friday night to both Frogs and Fluid, went to Ms. Karen's for Thai food on Saturday night and then went out on Saturday night again with Thacker and Mia. Twas fun. I learned a lot of things about myself and my relationships that night thanks to a really intuitive new friend.
Sunday I went to the beach and went snorkeling. However, I learned after going very far out that the reef on our beach is about a mile and a half out. Needless to say, I did not arrive at it. But I had some fun and got out of the muggy air for a few minutes.
The weather here has been very humid and very gloomy. "It's hurricane season!" everyone tells us. And it is true. Today we had our 'Hurricane Plan' meeting. All I can say is I hope I get evacuated for a hurricane at least once. It sounds really kind of cool. Plus I want a field trip to DC! Anyways, we just hope us interns don't get left behind, especially since us girls are SO far out here. The meeting was on a fitting day beings as the first Tropical Storm Alberto is heading for Florida as we speak.
So now to the shark. Yeah.
So last night we got invited over to my supervisor's house. He has a daughter our age. So us three and Mia decided to go out in the bay by their house at DUSK in a small blow up boat. Everyone except Mia promptly jumped into the water.
We heard the little kids on shore yelling something. We weren't sure what it was. Then I saw it. A small black triangle above the water. Mia saw it too. The other girls didn't. We all scrambled back into the boat and oared to shore. It was interesting. Very funny in retrospect, but interesting.
Work is getting better and hopefully we will get a car. Until then it is locked up in the 'prison' during the day and the pseudo-prison from when we get home from work until we leave at 7:15.
