I Hate You, Ronald Reagan!!!
A couple nights ago, I decided I would go to Waterloo Records and pick up a couple CD's, since I haven't gone record shopping in weeks. The trash in the apartment was full, so I picked it up and took it to the dumpster downstairs before I left to the record shop. As I was standing by the dumpster, sorting out items to recycle, a red truck slowly pulls up and the driver rolls down the window and says,"Are you hungry? Can I buy you a Cheeseburger?"
I don't know what the proper reaction should have been in a situation like this, but at that moment, I could not help but laugh uncontrollably. I then told him, while laughing, "I'm not homeless, I'm recycling", and then continued to laugh. The driver said, "Oh, good job" and then drove off.
I didn't look particularly homeless that day. I was wearing a plaid shirt and jeans, and they weren't even the torn up ones with the hole in the crotch. Maybe there was a sign of desperation in my face while sorting out the trash. Maybe he was a pervert, looking for a way to get me in his truck. Either way, I missed out on an opportunity for free food.
Afterward, I went to Waterloo and picked up a used copy of Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures" and My Bloody Valentine's "Tremelo" EP. The latter record goes for $24 used at Amoeba and I found a brand new copy of it for only $6.99.
