She is alone.
Between her fingers is the stem of a wilted rose and the tattered remains of a wish that had been unconsciously formed. But the lights are out and there is only the whisper of his presence and the lingering taste of coffee on her tongue.

There is a puddle of blood beneath her feet and her face is pale as it stares back at her from the adjacent mirror. She wraps her arms around her abdomen, back bent slightly in an attempt to suppress the painful contractions that sent unbidden thoughts up her mind. For once, she muses wistfully as more blood makes its way down her legs, maybe life would have been different if she told him and he knew. Then maybe, there wouldn’t be images of little children dancing in the corner of her eyes.
