Saturday was the celebration of Baby-O's first year on Spaceship Earth. J, Courtney and I went to the Milligan household where we all celebrated heartily, though for only a short while. I've been trying this whole moderation lark. It's got it's pluses and minuses.

Either way, Katie and Valerie were there. I really enjoy Valerie's company - she's got this peace that engulfs her like a warm blanket. It's pleasant to share space with her. Katie is perhaps a little more shy. We haven't held any in depth conversations or established common ground (outside of our enjoyment of the Milligans), yet. I look forward to getting to know her. Lorraine was there, which was a pleasant surprise. She's always nose deep in life stuff, not unlike myself. It can bring strain to any relationship, but I was just so glad to see her beautiful smile that everything else is forgotten.
Alex brought his two sons, Oliver, age 3 and Ben, age 5 months. I cuddled the baby while Alex grabbed a bite to eat, which gave me great joy and bought him a spare moment. Oliver and Lyric are very good friends, so they kept each other entertained while the growed-ups talked. Other than that I snapped some pics and we left.

Sunday was the meeting at the local library. I invited about 20 people to show up, 4 did. Believe it or not, that's fairly successful. We talked about plans for the future on the site, and established our next meeting, which will be on March 4. I called Bill on Monday to check schedules with him, left a message and attempted to get in touch with him by heading out to the BBF when I missed his return phone call. We finally ended our phone tag today and he's so excited! LOL, I love it. I suggested that one area I was worried about was a cold frame or green house for the site, where plant babies could establish. He said, "Well...I happen to have a bunch of tempered glass that's sitting around doing nothing..." It blew me away! I tore up the grant request sheet. There is currently nothing we need right now more than people in the community to get curious, get excited and get involved. We scheduled a lunch date on this up-coming Saturday to talk about the logistics and to talk about the meeting on the 4th.

My friend Andrew and I planned to meet on Sunday, after the BBF meeting. We finally did end up meeting, J, Drew and I had lunch before Andrew and I got to working on school stuff.

This week has flown by, and there is still more to do, but at least I am chipping away at the work coming due and I have hope for the future for the first time in a long time. It truly is amazing what we can accomplish if we just try.

fun
