[canon] Private event with Touma in Port Zala

Jan 30, 2009 22:21

Finally, we got back to this one! I...think this is Ed's last private event, if I am reading the guide right.

[Edward and Capell approach Touma]

T: Edward and Capell! What brought you here? Is there something you would like to discuss with me?

E: Touma, this is the moment I have been waiting for.

C: Ed?

E: I've been interested in your swordsmanship for a long time. Your skills are on par with Lord Sigmund's.

T: I see that you practice the swordsmanship of Burguss, strong and true...

C: Hey, you two...

E: I seek to learn your accuracy and speed in order to improve myself. Would it be too much for me to ask for your help?

C: Can you two hear me? Hello?

T: It would be an honor to learn the swordsmanship of Burguss! The distance between our two nations has caused a divergence of techniques.

C: Hello? What's going on? What are you, entrants in a tournament? Don't you have anything beter to do?

E: Ready?

T: Ready!

[awesome swordfighting!!! ensues]

E: Thank you!

T: Do not thank me for doing what is necessary. Your swordsmanship is strong and true as well.

C: ...

E: I have far to go and a lot to learn. I must practice what I observed during this match. Thank you.

C: ...

T: This has been a valuable experience for me as well. I believe you should have this.

[Received Memoirs of a Warrior]

E: What might this be?

T: This is the scripture I received from my master, Shinkai. I have mastered it so I will be pleased if it aids you as well.

E: Thank you! I will learn it to perfection!

C: ...I don't understand why you two have made whatever agreement you just made.

Things to take away from this: o look I make a pass at the pretty silver haired one in canon er.
It's still, always, every time, about bettering himself and about perfection and training hard.
He's perfectly capable of being polite to someone else who is skilled -- the rivalry that makes him nasty to Capell (and to Aya) really is personal and about Sigmund's attention, not about threats to his ability.
Matter of fact he's fine with other people knowing he's not perfect, now that he's been through Kolton; he wants to get there but he can admit he isn't yet.
In the fight scene: despite what he says about Touma having more speed and accuracy, he appears to keep up just fine. Neither one of them gets a clear upper hand. I should keep this in mind when fighting in camp.
