Acidic saliva increases your risk for cavities. Digesting sugar in the mouth increases the acidity of your saliva. Bases neutralize acids. Soap is a base. Whatever other poor health effects caused by washing your mouth out with soap, it will help neutralize the acidic saliva, lowering your risk for cavities.
