Is it just me, or does it sound really weird to call yourself a foreigner?
I had a row with a customer yesterday (he was being a rude ass, I got fed up and refused to finish serving him, he kept being a rude ass and demanded I serve him, so I walked away, and as I was, he asked the supervisor "She's a foreigner, isn't she?" as if that had anything to do with it) so it got me thinking- how do you feel about being a foreigner?
I just can't seem to wrap my brain around it. I don't really feel foreign, and I'm a permenant resident, so I can spend forever here.
But then, that also got me thinking- how long do you have to stay in a country to no longer feel like/be called a foreigner? If you've lived in the ner country for 5 years? 10? When do you become part of that country, and no longer just some visitor on an extended stay?
