welllll! okay, i can't swear to you that it's the best! show! evar! because obviously i haven't seen it yet, but i can tell you:
01. the books it's based on (the a song of fire and ice series by george r.r. martin) are FABULOUS. they're intricately plotted with incredible, fascinating characterization.
02. speaking of characterization, the (large) cast of characters is populated with flawed, very human, very grey individuals. lots of complexity!
03. the cast is badass! sean bean! peter dinklage! lena headey (from sarah connor chronicles, which i didn't watch but i heard was awesome)! mark addy! the chick who played nathan's mom on misfits! XD etc etc. also hot dudes like him and him.
04. it's fantasy but it's never silly and never feels like kid stuff. the fantasy elements are subtle; it's mostly a story about people, family, power struggles, honor, etc.
05. on the not feeling like kid stuff aspect: it's REALLY not for kids. the books themselves have lots of sex and violence and scandal, and the show is on HBO so i'm sure it will be appropriately saucy.
