Dearest J,
Sunday mornings are quickly becoming my favorite block of alone time. Driving back from Jim's I am fortunate enough to be able to catch some of The Bruce Brunch on 105.7, The Elvis and Friends Show on 98.1, and Breakfast with the Beatles on 98.1. My day starts out in this wonderful inspiring sort of way and i really feel alive.
This morning was filled with tribute as we approach the 50th anniversary of the crash in Clear Lake, Iowa that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. "Big Bopper" Richardson and the pilot, Roger Peterson. It also commemorated the anniversary of the Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan Show February 9, 1964.
I would like to extend this morning of tribute to honor John Martyn. He was one of the first musicians Jim introduced me to and i know that he will be greatly missed. Here is a song that breaks my heart in the most beautiful, amazing way...
Couldn't Love You More
John Martyn
If you kissed the sun right out of the sky for me
If you told me all the lies I might deserve
If you lay all night in the rain for me
Well, I couldn't love you more
Just couldn't love you more
I couldn't love you more.
If you loved me 'til my eyes got no more shine for you
If you walked beside me all the long way home
If you wasted all of your time on me
Well, I couldn't love you more
Just couldn't love you more
I couldn't love you more
Just couldn't love you more.
If you gave me all the things I'd never ask of you
If you showed me all the ways you have to cry
If you lay all night in the rain for me
I couldn't love you more
Just couldn't love you more
Just couldn't love you more.
see what i mean?
love,
leigh
