I went to see a documentary on global warming by Al Gore tonight with my Aunt Carla, Sarah, and Sean. It was very shocking to hear and see what types of affects that this issue will have on the world in a very short period of time. Here are some of the statistics for the movie:
-When Greenland and Western Antarctica melt (which they will if current trends continue) the level of the ocean will rise 40 feet world wide. This will cause many parts of California and nearly half of Florida to be under water, as well as large areas of China, India, and the Netherlands. Other areas too.
-As the world temperature increases and the population continues to grow natural resources ,things like food and water will be short. The world's forests will be gone.
-Scientists have recently begun to discover polar bears that have drown because they were forced to swim in search of new ice because their current habitat is melting.
-And this has also become a political issue because the Bush Administration has started to make an effort to turn global warming into a theory and hide the truth.
So all of you must go and see this movie because this is an issue that WILL affect us in are life time and we need to know about so we can take action.
