Hey I just got back from the Episcopal General Convention in Columbus Ohio. For those of you who aren't religious or who just don't know what that is I can give a quick explanation. Its a gathering of representatives from all the diocese of the Episcopal church. People from 21 different countries attend to discuss and pass new laws for the church and to elect and or approve nominations for new bishops, (religious leaders from every state that represent all the members of the Episcopal church in that said state)and other religious leaders. A few of the parts where stiflingly boring other parts where amazing. I was there to witness one of the most important events in religious and world history. The first election of a female presiding bishop in history. Everyone can appreciate what an amazing experience it was to watch the election of this person. As you know woman have never, until 30 years ago in the Episcopal church, had a real role in the church. It was amazing to watch history unfold right in front of my eyes. And to think I had just talked to this woman the day before. As someone who can be accused of being a raging feminist at times I am still ecstatic that I had the privilege to witness such an event.
