Having a blast at the
Video 24/7 Summit at USC this weekend. Just met Beth Coleman from MIT, a professor I've been following for some time....I could definitely see myself studying directly with her for my masters. Many of my virtual mentors are here and we're just stepping away from the Otaki music videos to go to plenary session with Joi Ito, Howard Rheingold, Henry Jenkins and others....Lawrence Lessig couldn't make it due to illness but the room is packed with dedicated media professionals and students who will set the stage for the next generation of user-created media by the people, for the people.
It's great that while in the room with many of the people I admire most, I can also be in Second Life attending the wedding of Shava and Tuna (Fish the Magish). What a beautiful ceremony with such love put into it! Beth came up and asked me what I was doing in Second Life and we started to talk about the homelessness/displacement civic engagement project...but also about this wedding, a beautiful expression that wouldn't have been possible a generation ago. I love that I can attend the wedding of good friends remotely and still feel a part of the celebration!
