The Merc With A Mouth...

Apr 08, 2009 15:38

For those of you not in the know, and if you have ever read this blog, well, ever, you know that the Merc with a Mouth is Wade Wilson more commonly known by his nomme de guerre Deadpool. Deadpool is of course a by product of the many attempts to remake Weapon X(the project that made Wolverine), and he's basically got Wolverine's ability, but without any of the morals, and on crack. Everyone in the Marvel universe is universally annoyed by him, but, don't be fooled he will cut your head off if you pay him enough...or convince him he'll meet Bea Arthur.

Why bring him up, aside from the fact that he's just so damn cool?

He's freaking everywhere these days! Marvel comics is pimping this cult character like nobodies business. I mean, we all know why, right? You don't? Well, have no fear, I'll tell you, it's because Deadpool is set to star in his very own...okay it's not his movie, it's that really popular superhero who seems to literally be on EVERY Marvel comic book cover...Oh right he's in that Wolverine movie coming out next month. Now from all reports it looks like the filmmakers completely screwed up the character, but that he's still running around being insane in the comics, and so how much Deadpool have we been getting in 2009?

Well first of all there was the Hulk vs. Wolverine movie which had Deadpool in it his first speaking roll in animation.

Daniel Way's solo Deadpool series is selling like hotcakes the latest issue sold out last week. Not to mention the book has been crossing over with the Thunderbolts for a four part arc, which means for two months we've gotten twice the amount of Deadpool needed per month. (Note: What I love about this crossover is that while Deadpool is insane and manic, it also shows that he knows what he's doing and makes every single one of the Thunderbolts look like a joke)

Then there was a one shot with Deadpool last month. This month kicks off a mini-series which pits The Merc with a Mouth against Daredevil, Spider-Man, and the Punisher.

OH and Deadpool is going to have a rather signifigant role in the X-Men crossover Messiah war.

Let's just do a quick recap right now:

1. Animated Deadpool in Wolverine animated short.

2. Live action Deadpool played by Ryan Reynolds(perfect casting choice)

3. Deadpool ongoing series.

4. Crossover with Thunderbolts.

5. A one shot.

6. A mini series

7. Major appearence in a huge X-Men crossover event.

That's a lot of Deadpool each month, but wait there's more!

The Merc With a Mouth will be in a couple of issues of Ms. Marvel.

What a very strange time to be a Deadpool fan.
