I agreed with most of the Oscars. I'm glad No Country won best adapted screenplay and best picture and supporting actor. I think this Oscar night really did showcase what a freaking great year it was for movies. Even the movies the Academy failed to mention at all, Hot Fuzz should have at least been nominated for editing or sound mix, but whatever.
What was the deal with only three animated films getting nominated? They nominated Surf's Up but not TMNT or Beowulf(okay I know why they didn't get nominated but still!).
Special effects went to the Golden Compass which surprised me not they weren't good, but I thought Transformers was going to win it.
Daniel Day Lewis won best actor not terribly surprised.
Tilda Swinton and which ever Coen brother just said Thanks both times had the best speeches of the night.
Why the fuck did they give less time to the awards where more than 1 person won, so not all of them got to speak?
Anyways in movie terms the new year is upon us, the glut of January and February is over and the spring films start making their way towards the inevitable Summer movie season. This year we've got a whole lot to look forward to: Iron Man, Indy 4, The Dark Knight.
I think the most recent best year in movies was 1999 and that was also reflected in those Oscars as well.
Anyways folks Village Out.
