jongin was hyperventilating. he tried hard to stay calm as he stared at the empty word document in his laptop because fuck, he had to submit a draft in an hour and his brain was not cooperating. he took the cup of latte on his table and cursed when he noticed that it was already empty.
jongin ordered his fourth cup.
when he was about to turn back at his laptop, the vacant chair in front of him was abruptly pulled and the seat was replaced by a young, attractive man with sandy locks and breathtaking smile. jongin stared.
"please, don't mind me. continue your work," the man said as he propped up his chin with his hands. pretty hands, jongin noted.
jongin looked around. there were plenty of empty tables in the coffee shop. he had no idea who this man was, and what he wanted from him. nevertheless, jongin shrugged and began to focus on his work. he wanted to cry. 50 minutes left!
"why are you doing your work here?" the man suddenly asked, his doe-like eyes twinkling. "oh, i'm luhan, by the way."
"jongin. kim jongin," jongin replied. he didn't know what about luhan that made him seemed so reliable, dependable and trustworthy and even though he had just knew him, jongin liked luhan. so, jongin spilled all his thoughts about his new supervisor, who was very, very inconsiderate by giving him a last-minute notice on the deadline of the draft he was working on -- oh, my friends said he looks like a girl, jongin cackled -- and how he wanted to strangle that supervisor because his previous supervisor was much nicer. luhan smiled all the way through jongin's rant, laughing a melodious laugh that had jongin's heart thumping so loud and he wondered if luhan could hear it.
jongin's face flushed and he immediately apologized for his sudden outburst. luhan chuckled softly.
"you didn't answer my question," luhan said, fixing his gaze on jongin.
"oh. because i-- i like coffee." he felt like his answer was bland, so he decided to keep the conversation going. "you?"
"i like coffee too. but it tastes nicer when i'm with you. you know, like, drinking together with you. i like that a lot," luhan smiled as he cocked his head a little. jongin noted the wild curls of his hair bouncing about as he moved.
jongin blinked. "why me?"
"your skin color reminds me of coffee. it's pretty, like espresso," luhan paused and he seemed to ponder for a few moments. "no, not espresso. mocha is more likely."
jongin blushed a little. "and your hair looks like the froth on my latte," he murmured, running his eyes away from luhan's. "it looks fluffy."
luhan beamed and jongin wanted to squeal in happiness. he was definitely fated to meet luhan, he decided. he watched as luhan emptied his cup of coffee, his work neglected as he gazed at the blond man.
"oh, there's some latte foam on your lips."
before jongin could react, luhan stood and bent over to swipe his thumb across jongin's lips before popping it in his mouth, sucking it with a loud slurp. jongin blinked rapidly, trying to form some coherent thought.
"you're doing a great job," luhan said suddenly. "i'll extend your deadline to tomorrow morning."
jongin's eyes widened and his jaw hung limply. he stared at luhan as the other pushed his chair back and stood in front of the startled jongin.
"i'm your new supervisor, kim jongin. the one that looks like a girl," luhan said, his lips curling up in amusement. "i hope we can get along and drink more coffee together. i'd like that a lot."
giving jongin one last smile, luhan gave jongin's shoulder a gentle pat and walked out of the quiet coffee shop.
jongin buried his reddening face in his arms and let out a muffled scream.
yeah, fated.
