I don't think I did the prompt much justice, especially to do with the song. But here goes.

The first time Jongin hears of Do Kyungsoo was during lunchtime. Chanyeol, uncaring of Baekhyun’s disgusted look because there’s still food in his mouth, told everyone at the table that there’s one new kid in his class.

Jongin didn’t comment on it, choosing to keep quiet, which was nothing new. He only paid slight attention to Baekhyun’s questions about the new boy and Chanyeol’s answers, which seemed exaggerated to be quite honest. How can someone’s eyes be like an owl? He’s so cute, I just want to squish him to death, seriously what is that about?

But then in a very clichéd moment, almost everyone in the cafeteria fell silent, suddenly talking in hushed whispers, eyes focused at the entrance. Even Chanyeol had stopped talking. Curious, Jongin peered at where everyone was looking. In another clichéd moment, lacking only hearts coming out his eyes, Jongin’s jaw dropped. He vaguely noticed Chanyeol nodding when Baekhyun asked, “Is that him?”

He found his heart suddenly skipping a beat, even more so when Kyungsoo caught his gaze and there’s a hint of a smile creeping up his face before he walked past their table. Unintentionally, Kyungsoo has robbed Jongin’s heart.

In the second week after Kyungsoo transferred, Jongin finally is blessed with Kyungsoo’s presence. Chanyeol had managed to make friends with said boy and even persuaded him to join their table during lunch. He did not tell the rest of them in advance however, which leads to Jongin sitting awkwardly, looking at anywhere but Kyungsoo who is politely listening to Chanyeol as he introduces each one of them.

When it is Jongin’s turn, it’s a miracle that he even managed to look up to the older boy.

“And lastly, this is Jongin. He’s a junior, but somehow he hangs out with us,” Chanyeol says, before finally sitting down next to Baekhyun.

Kyungsoo smiles, the non-anatomical shape of a heart comes to Jongin’s mind, as he greets, “Hi.”

It is a good thing that Jongin is already seated, else his knees would have buckled because that voice ceases the functioning of his body. He’s surprised he’s still breathing. Because of that too, he couldn’t force himself to give a proper response. Only looking at Kyungsoo like he’s some kind of angel, lost from heaven where he belongs. Which isn’t far from the truth because to Jongin, Kyungsoo is the loveliest human creature he knows by far.

Baekhyun’s laughter breaks him from his daydream, which involves dancing under the moonlight until they tire their feet off and they lie down side by side.

“He’s just shy. Don’t take it personally.”

Jongin needs to thank Baekhyun someday because Kyungsoo is back to smiling, happy that he’s welcomed in the group.
