Chanyoung is not excited. She spent a long time getting her hair perfect. She loves her blondeness and she doesn’t know how she ever lived without her perm.
“They could shave my head and I’d still look better than all you bitches,” she hears Luhuan declare, and she rolls her eyes.
“You’d look like an alien,” Tai snaps, her eyebrows high. “I bet they’ll leave me just the way I am, because I’m perfect.”
Kristina laughs at all of them as she swings her long, golden-brown hair around in the other girls’ faces and they snip at her in annoyance.
“Girls?” Jeongin says, “I think Miss J is calling us.” The squeals commence again and they all pile into their van.
“Chanyoung?” Baekyeon says, putting a hand on Chanyoung’s arm. “Is something wrong?”
Chanyoung eyes her friend and bites her perfectly-glossed lip. “I’m afraid they’re going to cut my hair…”
“No,” Baekyeon coos, stroking Chanyoung’s beautiful locks. “They might straighten it, that’s all. I don’t think they’d cut this.”
“You’ll still look pretty,” Kyungsoon nods, and Chanyoung feels slightly reassured.

When they see Tyra at the salon, all the chatter ceases, waiting in intense anticipation for what kind of styling they’re going to get.
“Alright, ladies,” Tyra says, smizing fabulously, “who’s ready for a makeover?” All the girls cry out “me, me!” except for Chanyoung. She’s really not ready at all. “Excellent. We’ll start with Kyungsoon. Kyungsoon, have you ever seen the movie ‘Rosemary’s Baby?’”
“N-no,” Kyungsoon says slowly, but Yixing nods slowly with a malicious grin on her face.
“Well,” Tyra says, “in the movie, Mia Farrow’s hair was about this short.” She holds up two fingers about four centimeters apart and Kyungsoon blanches. “Okay! Next up is Kristina. Kristina, we’re dying your hair back to black and it’s going to look fantastic. You’ll look like a mysterious femme fatale.”
Kristina smiles as if she’s been assured of such a fate all along, and Tyra moves onto the next girl.
“Joonmin, we’re going to make you a beautiful gold color, and we’re giving you a weave so that your hair is long and curly!” Tyra announces, and Chanyoung figures this is bad news. You can only have so many girls with long, curly hair on a cycle.
“Sounds good,” Joonmin smiles.
“Tai, we’re keeping your hair pretty much as it is but we’re going to tint it red,” Tyra says.
“Yes!” Tai grins, high-fiving Jongae.
“Jongae, for you, we’re keeping you exactly as you are. We think you’re beautiful right now,” Tyra says, and Jongae’s smile disappears. Everyone knows that the girls who keep their hair are the first to go.
“Minsoon, for you, we’re going RED!” Tyra cries, and Minsoon’s eyes grow wide.
“Luhuan, we’ve decided to make your hair white, like a fairy,” Tyra says.
“Or like an old man,” Chanyoung hears Kristina whisper, and Tai and Jongae giggle.
“Yixing, we’re going to give you a really mod cut. Chocolate brown, and bangs right here,” Tyra motions to the middle of her forehead (or her five-head, as she’s been known to call it). Yixing doesn’t look fazed, but Chanyoung is happy that at least she isn’t getting the crazy cut.
“Jeongin, we’re going to dye your hair a shade lighter and it’s going to be absolutely beautiful,” Tyra says. Jeongin looks relieved.
“Baekyeon, you’re going to get a curly weave also, but we’re going to make it brown with a tint of pink. Pink is à la mode these days.”
“Okay!” Baekyeon says jauntily, but Chanyoung knows she’s dreading the weave.
“Saehyun, we decided that you’re so beautiful and pale that you could use a little color! So we’re going to dye one side of your hair white, the back black, and the front will be purple!”
Saehyun looks more confused than anything, but Chanyoung is too busy listening to hear heart pound in her ears.
“Last but not least, we’ve got Chanyoung!” Tyra announces. “You have such a perfect face that we really want to show it off, so we’re going to be dying your hair black and cutting your bangs up to here. And then we’re going to cut it short so that you’ll have a really cute pixie look. How does that sound?”
Chanyoung gulps.
