Re: [FILL] The inevitable 2/? anonymous June 12 2013, 20:18:14 UTC
When Jaejoong stumbles through the front door much later that afternoon, he feels pretty much dead. He had to sit through two endless radio shows today, pretending to be all cheerful and stuff, and one just as boring variety show shooting. Now, don’t get him wrong, he loves what he does. It’s just that it would be really great if he could concentrate on his music only and not have to worry about all the promoting. But of course, entertainment industry doesn’t work that way.

As if that wasn’t enough, he’s been feeling slightly guilty the whole day. His thoughts keep returning to the boy he brushed off this morning. He was just a kid and he actually yelled at him, just because he’d got up on the wrong side of the bed and was running a bit late already. Not that it’s the first time that happened. His short temper has left him regretting stuff more than once. Jaejoong is a really nice person otherwise, you see, and he loves people, he really does. Just not in the mornings. And when he’s in a hurry. Well, there’s nothing he can do about it now.

All he wants to do right now is just drop dead on the couch and stay there until Junsu wakes him up with the smell of pancakes the next morning. But no matter how much he wants to, he can’t do that. He still has responsibilities to attend to. He distantly notes that all of this would be much easier if there was someone waiting for him at home, someone who would understand him. Other than his annoying roommates, that is.

The apartment is dead still right now, but the soft smell of food and the still warm pot on the stove tell him Yoochun must have left not too long ago. He thankfully digs in (straight from the pot, it doesn’t count when no one sees, mind you) and somehow finds the strength to drag himself to shower afterwards. When he plops down onto the couch half an hour later, all fresh and in comfortable clothes, he feels much better already.

With a laptop on his lap he answers some e-mails and lingers a bit on his fan café, giggling over some of his fans’ comments, dropping a few of his own here and there. Then he proceeds to sort the mail that’s been piling up. He carefully puts aside all of the officially looking envelopes and bills, then starts dutifully opening all of the fan mail. Mostly he just skims through it though. Normally he would at least try to read the love letters, most of them were pretty cute after all, but today he’s just too tired.

He’s more than a little surprised when he pulls an actual music sheet from one of the envelopes. Really, who sends stuff like this via mail nowadays? And is this… actually handwritten? He doesn’t dwell too much on it, as he feels a wave of excitement rushing through him already. No, he can never be too tired for that.

He swiftly moves behind the piano, placing the sheet on the rack, and starts playing out the notes. The first line is enough for him to know he’s going to love this, but he keeps playing and by the end of it he’s completely smitten. He replays the song over and over again, adding his own little bits to it and his amazement never fades. It’s been way too long since his manager last sent him something that would match his taste so well, if he ever did, and his own attempts at songwriting don’t even come close to this. Whoever wrote this must understand him really well, the song even matches his pitch perfectly, and Jaejoong knows he needs to meet this person.

When he’s satisfied with how many times he’s played the song over, he cleans up the rest of the mail, makes himself a cup of tea and calls his manager. It takes him ages to pick up, as always, and Jaejoong is not a patient man.

“Jae, hi. What’s-“

“Hyung. Who wrote it?” Jaejoong interrupts him, eloquent as always.

“Who wrote what?”

“The song, hyung. It’s awesome.”

He can hear his manager sighing. “What song, Jae? You’ll have to be a bit more specific, I work with songs all day long, you know.”

Jaejong silently grinds his teeth. “The song you sent me, of course. Who wrote it? I need to know.”

“I didn’t send you anything lately. I do have a song for you, but I haven’t sent it yet…”

“… so it wasn’t you? But who would… never mind. I’m hanging up now, bye.” Ugh, he’s probably going to get a scolding for this tomorrow, but who cares. Jaejoong is confused now. If it wasn’t his manager, who then? Well, he does have a lot of friends in the music industry. But they would have at least attached a note, right? Wait… what if there was a note?

When he doesn’t find anything on the actual sheet, he proceeds to empty the trashcan onto the kitchen floor and starts digging through the empty envelopes. Which is also how his lovely roommates find him, when they enter through the front door five minutes later - sitting in the middle of a heap of garbage, shoulders hunched and with more than a little desperate expression on his face.

The sight is a bit pitiful and definitely worrying, but the first thing Junsu does, the bastard, is take a picture with his phone. For future references, of course. “… is there a reason you decided to go all raccoon on our apartment, Jaebaby?” he then asks, but doesn’t even have the decency to sound interested and Jaejoong throws a used tissue in his direction, pouting.

“Shut up, Su… This is a critical situation, you know. Someone sent me a song today and the song is just so great and I can’t find out who it was and I need to know, so come help me right now!” Jaejoong whines, and for once he doesn’t bother to feel embarrassed about it.

“No way am I touching that, no way…” Junsu mutters, but Jaejoong isn’t paying him attention anymore. From the corner of his eyes he can see Yoochun, previously just propped against the kitchen counter, perk up.

“A song, you say?” he drawls, and there’s that unmistakable glint in his eyes.

Jaejoong is immediately in standing position, ready to attack. “Park Yoochun. Do you know something that I don’t?”

“Oh, maybe I do, maybe I don’t… what’s in it for me if I tell you?” Yoochun is smirking now and Jaejoong knows this situation way too well.

“Junsu, hold him!” he screams and flings himself at Yoochun in an attempt to tickle him into submission. But Junsu, of course, doesn’t, and Jaejoong finds himself landing face first into the kitchen counter instead. There are tears in his eyes now and he sincerely hopes there is no blood coming, because god knows his stomach does not handle that very well.

“Chunnie, look at the poor thing, he’s about to cry now… be good for once and just tell him.” Junsu takes mercy on him while circling his arms around Yoochun’s waist from behind and resting against his shoulder.

“Ah, fine.” Yoochun grumbles, never quite able to refuse Junsu’s requests, and tosses him a pack of frozen carrots for his poor nose. That face mostly pays his rent, after all. “Do you remember that blond cutie you left crying in the hallway this morning? Well, it’s from him.”

Jaejoong actually stops sulking for a moment and looks up surprised. “That kid? Seriously?”

“He’s not a kid, he’s 23 actually and his name is Luhan. But yes, him.”

This is turning out much longer than I expected... I hope you don't mind.

“.. no way. How do you know all of this?”

“Well, I couldn’t quite leave him out there, crying like that. Poor thing was shaking so bad, you crushed him, you meanie. So I took him inside and made him some cocoa.” Yoochun smiles like he’s actually proud of himself and Jaejoong looks at him incredulously. “… what? You can never be too old for cocoa!” Yoochun crosses his arms defensively.

Jaejoong just shakes his head. “So you took him in and what? He told you he wrote me a song?”

“More precisely, he told me this song came to him while thinking of you, and he wanted to give it to you. He’s a music student, you see… because of you, apparently.” Yoochun has that soft smile now, the one that’s usually reserved for someone else. Jaejoong just slides back down to the floor and hugs his knees. So he managed to hurt the one person that actually piqued his interest after such a long time. Just classic. Way to go, Kim Jaejoong.

He lifts his head determinedly. “… do you know how I can find him?”

This time it’s a smiling Junsu who pipes up. “Well, you know where he studies and you know his name. That should be enough, right?”

This is how two days later, Jaejoong finds himself hovering around the entrance to Seoul Institute of Arts, building F. The office ladies weren’t exactly cooperative when he asked them for a student’s contact information, but they did at least tell him which classes Luhan took and where he could find those. He feels the passing students’ gazes lingering on him, but thankfully none of them bother enough to actually stop and try to talk to him. He has a suspicion it’s most likely the pair of bigger than necessary ray bans rather than himself that’s attracting their attention, but he most certainly won’t risk taking them off.

He feels like at least half of Seoul’s population has passed by until he finally spots that familiar mop of blond hair. To be quite honest, that’s pretty much all he remembers of the boy and he definitely hopes he’s not mistaken.

Luhan is walking towards him with a stack of books pressed against his chest, but he doesn’t seem to notice him. He’s talking to a flamboyant looking boy with high cheekbones. Rather handsome, he absentmindedly thinks with an uncomfortable feeling in his stomach.

Despite the sudden nervousness he’s not familiar with, he takes a few long strides towards him and yeah, he’s sure the boy has noticed him by now, because he’s gone pale and looks like he’s seen a ghost.

“Luhan?” he calls out unsurely. He knows he’s not mistaken when the boy’s eyes go a bit wider. “Hey… you… remember me, right?” Jaejoong wants to face palm as soon as the words leave his mouth. “Uh... that was stupid. Sorry. I mean… do you have a bit of free time right now?” Yeah, never mind the speech he prepared. He already made a fool out of himself, it can’t get much worse than that. Right?

Luhan grips his books a bit tighter and finally remembers how to speak. “Chen… I’ll catch up with you later, okay?”

The dark haired boy looks between the skeptically before he turns around and leaves with a mumbling of goodbye. “… yeah, my classes are over for today. I have time.” Luhan then adds with eyes cast down and in a much smaller voice than Jaejoong remembers.

“Great! I hope you like coffee then.” Jaejoong gives him a reassuring smile that he hopes Luhan catches.

Luhan fiddles with his fingers nervously and stares down at his caramel macchiato. He doesn’t know if he should wait for Jaejoong to say something or start apologizing by himself. He decides for the latter. “The other day… I’m-“

“I’m really sorry about that.” Jaejoong interrupts him yet again. “I shouldn’t have said all those things. I was really tired and in a hurry that day, and I know that isn’t a proper excuse for saying stuff like that, but it’s the best one I have.”

“No!” Luhan squeaks. “You don’t have to apologize at all! It’s me who did wrong. It was really rude of me, invading your privacy like that, and I’m terribly sorry. I just wanted to give you the song in person, because it means a lot to me and…” For the first time today Luhan dares to lift his eyes from the table and is met with the most gorgeous smile that makes him blush immediately.

“That song…” Jaejoong starts and his gaze doesn’t leave Luhan’s for one second. “I can’t even express how thankful for it I am.”

“You… saw it?” Luhan is afraid he’ll forget how to breathe any minute now.

“Saw it? I saw it, played it and loved it. So much, Luhan. Did you really write it? By yourself?” Jaejoong leans across the table and takes on of Luhan’s sweaty palms in his. Luhan is so stunned the only thing he manages to do is nod.

“Waah… that’s incredible. Is there something you’d like?”

“What… do you mean?” Jaejoong’s hand is still holding his and Luhan has trouble concentrating.

“I mean, you wrote me an amazing song. I want to do something for you too!” Jeajoong is actually happily laughing now and Luhan can’t believe how much a person could change in such a short amount of time. This is what he always imagined him to be like.

He gently pries his hands from Jaejoong’s and folds them in his lap, because there’s no way he can answer properly while they’re still touching. This time he takes his time and formulates his answer carefully. “If I ever got to hear you sing this song, it would be more than enough of a reward for me. It means more to me than you can imagine. If it weren’t for you and your music, I’d be stuck in a dry cleaning shop in Beijing now, about to spend the rest of my life doing something just for the sake of doing it. Although I’m probably a joke for not being able to make a decision like that without a push from the outside, thanks to you I found the courage to go after something I love, and I’ve never been happier. This song is my expression of all that and knowing that you like it at least a little… it’s more than I ever hoped for.”

Jaejoong stays silent for a moment and Luhan is so terribly afraid he’s going to laugh at him. But then he abruptly stands up, grabs Luhan’s hand yet again and drags him out of the café, leaving their cups half-full.

Luhan only seems to catch his breath once he’s safely buckled up inside of Jae’s car. “Where are we going?” he croaks out.

“To claim your reward.” Jaejoong smiles softly.

“What?”

“We’re going to my place.” Out of the corner of his eye he can see Luhan quietly gasp and then cover his mouth with a hand. “… you totally thought of something dirty right now, didn’t you?”

“N-no, of course not!” Luhan squeaks, but the furious blush covering his cheeks gives him away.

Jaejoong can’t help but laugh a little to himself. Yoochun was right, this boy really was too cute, and he enjoyed teasing him way more than he probably should.

“Oh, too bad. I’m just going to introduce you to my piano then. I added a few bits to the song and I want you to tell me what you think of it before I record it for my next album.”

“Before you… what?”

“If that’s okay with you, of course. I can’t really put your name under it if you don’t consent.”

Luhan looks like he can’t breathe now. “You… can’t be serious.”

“Of course I’m serious. It’s not like I can write anonymous under composer or claim I wrote it myself. Let’s be honest, no one would believe that.” Jaejoong keeps the tone teasing, but inside he’s just praying Luhan won’t be against it. He knows that under the right conditions, a little thing like this could kickstart Luhan’s career as a writer and he doesn’t want him to think he’s doing this because he feels bad or indebted. Because Luhan deserves it so much it hurts.

“I… don’t know what to say.” Luhan pipes up after a minute of silence.

“Just say okay.” Jaejoong reaches over and squeezes his shoulder gently.

It’s soft, but his ears don’t fail to catch it. “Okay.”

The atmosphere is much more relaxed after that. They enter the apartment still laughing about some stupid joke they heard on the car’s radio and for once, Jaejoong is actually glad the secret-to-no-one-but-each-other boyfriends, as he likes to call his roommates, are out for some dumb high school reunion.

Being the gentleman he is (except in the mornings), he takes Luhan’s jacket and after offering him something to drink he leads him to the piano. Luhan sits next to him on the leather stool, keeping respectable distance, but Jae just pulls him closer and silently revels in the soft flush that follows.

He doesn’t wait anymore and starts playing the slightly altered version, closing his eyes as he bathes himself in the music.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Luhan feels slightly embarrassed for not paying more attention to the music, but he can’t help but take advantage of Jaejoong’s closed eyes and stare at his face shamelessly. He’s mesmerized by the way his lips move and the barely noticeable fluttering of his eyelashes. The angelic voice resounding in his ears does nothing to convince him he’s still down on earth.

He doesn’t notice the song has ended until Jaejoong’s question disturbs his daydreaming. “So, what do you think?”

“You are so handsome.” The words are out of his mouth before he has a chance to think about them.

To his surprise, Jaejoong actually laughs. “That’s kind of a different compliment than I expected after pouring my heart out through a song.”

Luhan is sure his face could easily beat a tomato right now. “I meant… your voice is handsome. The way you sing… not that you aren’t handsome, you’re just… everything about you is… oh god.” He hides his face in his hands and waits for the mocking laughter or the scolding, but for the first time today, the only answer he gets is silence.

Afraid of the worst he looks up and finds himself staring into eyes that are not smiling. “Hyung, I’m sorry, I didn’t-“

“Luhan.” Jaejoong interrupts him again and Luhan absentmindedly thinks that maybe it’s a habit of his. “I really want to kiss you right now. But I’m afraid I won’t be able to stop and it’s way too early.”

“I’ve been ready for you since I was 17.” He doesn’t know where that came from, but he doesn’t have time to think about it, because suddenly there’s a warm pair of lips on his and he can’t think anymore.

Jaejoong’s lips are rough against his, too dry, and Luhan finds out it turns him on more than he would have thought, but it’s nothing compared to when his tongue slips into his mouth.

Jaejoong is not soft or gentle like he always imagined him to be, not by any means. The tongue in his mouth dominates his completely and there are fingers pressing sharply into his waist, pulling his upper body flush against the hard chest in front of him, until there’s not a bit of space between them, but somehow it’s still not close enough.

One of Jae’s hands slips down to his thigh a tugs, and suddenly Luhan finds himself seated across his lap, his back pressing into the piano and drawing all sorts of tunes from it. His legs wrap automatically around Jae’s waist and a pathetic whimper rips from his throat when he feels the jean-clad erection straining against his.

Jaejoong’s hands find purchase on his bony hips and harshly pull him down, and all Luhan does is claw at Jae’s shoulders in order not to come already. His hips seem to have a mind of their own, because they are moving without Jae’s help now, grinding down, and the newly unoccupied hands slip into his t-shirt, scratching at his skin and tugging at his nipples, never lingering in one place for too long.

He wants to warn Jaejoong, tell him that it’s too much, that he’s about to explode, but he doesn’t get the chance, because then there are hands slipping into the back of his jeans, squeezing his buttocks, and rough finger pads pressing flat against his entrance and he comes with an embarrassingly high-pitched moan.

Jaejoong stills as soon as he realizes what happened. He’s still painfully hard and not exactly close, but Luhan is holding on to him desperately and barely beginning to catch his breath, so he waits a patiently rubs his back.

Luhan doesn’t give himself the chance to feel embarrassed just yet and slips onto his knees in front of him as soon as his head stops spinning. There’s a warm hand pushing against his shoulder and he hears Jaejoong saying something along the lines of “You don’t have to…”, but he just shakes his head and eagerly goes for his belt. He knows how to give head alright, his high school years have given him at least that, and he want Jae to feel at least half as good as he did just moments ago.

Jaejoong’s pants are already halfway down his thighs when a teasing voice comes from the hallway. “That’s one hell of a foot rub you owe me, Chunnie.” Luhan doesn’t have it in him to blush anymore today, but to his surprise, Jaejoong actually does.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

It’s whole hours later that the two of them finally leave them alone and they’re not in the mood anymore, so they just curl on the couch under a bunch of blankets and watch a movie. The last fleeting thought Jaejoong has before falling asleep with a cute blonde in his arms, is that maybe the radio appearances and variety shows won’t be that much of a pain anymore.
