The younger boy wrinkles his nose at the thought of having to wash plates of jjajangmyun where the leftover sauce clings onto the plate and never comes off. No thank you, he is not looking forward to that.
"But hyung, I just came back from extra dance practice and I'm really tired. Can someone cover me this week?" He looks around the table then finally shoots Joonmyun a pointed look when no one responds.
"We already covered you last week when it was your turn," Chanyeol responds.
"But, I really don't want to. Joonmyun-hyung, tell someone to cover me, yeah? Just this last time, I swear."
Baekhyun huffs from besides Chanyeol and tosses his spoon in Jongin's direction with more force than intended, hitting his plate with a loud clink.
"Just because you're fucking our leader," Baekhyun growls harshly, "doesn't mean you get special privileges."
Jongin flinches at the older boy's words. A stunned silence washes over the room as the other members stare in shock because Baekhyun is always nice to everyone, especially to Jongin. To hear those words come from Baekhyun makes Jongin's cheeks flush in embarrassment. He glances at Kyungsoo who has his head hung low, but even he doesn't speak up on Jongin's behalf and Kyungsoo always defends him. Hearing these words from Baekhyun is like a reality check.
"It's your turn to do the dishes so man up and fucking do it. Joonmyun may be fine with taking over your chores, but we're not your maids."
Jongin is pretty sure his entire face is red by now and he can't stand in be in this room anymore. He hastily pushes his chair back and strides out of the kitchen in three steps. He lets himself out of the apartment and slams the door behind him. He feels belittled, embarrassed and like absolute shit.
"Typical," Baekhyun rolls his eyes. "He acts more fucking spoiled than Sehun."
"Hey!" Sehun cries. "I am not spoiled!"
"Baekhyun," Joonmyun starts with his leader-voice. "I know you guys are upset, but was that really necessary?"
"It's called tough love, hyung. Maybe you should try it on him."
Jongin returns to the apartment two hours later and finds Joonmyun alone in the living room sitting on the couch.
"I think we need to have a talk."
"Go ahead, lecture me. I deserve it," Jongin sighs as he plops down onto the couch next to the leader.
"I'm not going to lecture you. We're going to talk like adults, okay? We both know it's no secret that I've been spoiling you ever since we started dating. It was very unleader-like of me and it has to stop. It's just hard, okay? I'm your leader, but I'm also your boyfriend so I feel obligated to treat you that much more special, but I can't be doing it at the other members' expenses. Do you understand, Jongin-ah?"
"I get it," Jongin mumbles in response as he inspects the calluses on his hand. "I know I've been a brat, but it's just that you're not only my leader, you're also my boyfriend so it was just nice getting the extra attention from you."
Joonmyun smiles as he tugs Jongin towards him to wrap his arms around the younger boy.
"Silly Jongin," he grins. "There's other ways that I can spoil you. Letting you sleep in just a little bit more in the morning. Or cuddling with you after a long day of practice. And kissing you even when you don't deserve it. Like now."
Joonmyun leans in and captures Jongin's lips with his own. He smiles into the kiss because times like these just feel so right between them. Jongin kisses him back like it's the only thing he knows how to do.
"I really like you, hyung," Jongin admits shyly when they pull apart.
"I like you too, Jongin-ah," Joonmyun replies before placing another deep kiss on Jongin's mouth. "But, you've still go the dishes to do."
