“dad, i feel sick,” baekhyun says, feigning an overdramatic cough. kyungsoo scoffs and rolls his eyes, looking as annoyed as one can whilst wearing a fluorescent pink skirt. “i’ve got the cooties, dad. i’m dying. kyungsoo killed me.”
“GOOD,” says kyungsoo. “i’m not going to your funeral.”
“WELL, I WASN’T GOING TO INVITE YOU ANYWAY,” says baekhyun crossly.
kris sighs as they both begin to bicker again, batting at each other as well as they can when they’re squished up against each other. sharp words and insults are thrown. kris does not even know where they had learnt words like that. perhaps it is time to implement the majestic powers of a swear jar.
or even better, luhan.
“hello,” luhan says, popping his head around the door. he steps in with his rucksack and his parka still on, holding baby sehun with one arm, and grins sheepishly. straight away, baekhyun and kyungsoo start shrieking happily, making grabby hands at luhan, one arm each sticking out of the sleeves.
luhan is a lifesaver, kris thinks. also very, very cute. but mostly a lifesaver. it’s like he has these magical powers wherein he can actually make baekhyun and kyungsoo get along. he is a godsend. an angel. thank you god. kris does not know who he had been in his past life but he must’ve been something akin to jesus or superman because he definitely knows that there’s nothing he has done in this life to deserve luhan. luhan is an angel. a hot angel who is great in bed and the cutest boy alive and great with kids. happy sigh.
“LUHAN,” baekhyun says gleefully. “HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.”
“LUHAN,” kyungsoo says. “LUHAN LUHAN LUHAN LUHAN LUHAN.”
“hi baekhyun,” says luhan, taking a seat on the edge of the bed. he sets sehun down next to his brothers, and sehun just rolls around sleepily on the mattress, tangling himself in the sheets. “hi kyungsoo,” and to kris, his smile turns coy and his cheeks turn a bit pink. “hi.”
“hello,” says kris, his insides turning strangely fuzzy. there’s that familiar flutter in his stomach, the slight quickening of his heartbeat, whenever he sees luhan. he’s no longer a dumb, high school kid that he doesn’t know what that means. he just doesn’t know if he’s really ready to accept it. “finished college?”
“yup,” says luhan, nodding as he messes up baekhyun’s hair. baekhyun giggles. “just finished my last class so i’d thought i’d drop by for an hour or so.”
sehun crawls onto kris’s folded knees and settles in his lap, sucking on his thumb. his eyes fall shut, already drifting off to a nap, and kris runs his hands through sehun’s short hair soothing the boy to sleep. “only an hour?” he says. “you’re not staying?”
“well, i was just gonna go home and probably bum around for a bit to avoid, like, doing homework, but it seems like you need a little help here,” says luhan, the amused tone evident in his voice as he gestures at kris’s handiwork.

“i’m sure you are,” says luhan, smirking. “i can tell.” he cocks an eyebrow and tugs at the shirt. the hem brushes kyungsoo’s bare thighs underneath the skirt as it floats against his skin and he squirms, laughing softly at the sensation. noticing kyungsoo’s sensitivity, luhan gently tickles him until he bursts out into breathless laughter, and baekhyun screams, “TICKLE ME TOO. I WANT TICKLES. DAD. DAD. DAD. DAD. DAD. DADDY.”
“okay, okay, okay,” says kris in resignation as he pulls the shirt off, plan failing miserably, and tickles baekhyun’s ribs. baekhyun topples over and lies on the bed, cackling loudly, and luhan gives kris a Look. kris gives him a Look back, but it’s more of a i might have been bested by the antics of my children but we shall see who will be laughing in bed tonight. spoiler alert, the answer is me. even as the tips of his ears turn red, luhan grins back and his foot nudges kris in the shin.
“dad,” says kyungsoo suddenly, sounding quite out of breath. kris absentmindedly makes a noise of affirmation, otherwise preoccupied in engaging himself with an intense game of footsie with luhan. “dad, when’s luhan gonna be our daddy too?”
kris’s blood freezes. his breath catches in his lungs. well, that’s something he had never expected kyungsoo to ask.
baekhyun nods eagerly and joins in with Ruining Kris’s Life. “yeah!” he says. “it gets lonely when you’re not at home. luhan should stay! and play with us!”
“UH,” says kris intelligently.
to his surprise, luhan becomes coherent first, cheeks red, and says, “well, do you want me to?”
“yeah!” kyungsoo and baekhyun chime together.
luhan glances at kris bashfully. “mm, well, maybe one day,” he says. “right?”
kris nods and swallows the lump in his throat. “right,” he says, his own face heating up.
seemingly satisfied, baekhyun nods and jumps off the bed, grabbing luhan’s hand. “luhan, come! i want to show you my dinosaur collection.”
kyungsoo follows suit and grasps luhan’s other hand. “noooo, go away baekhyun. he wants to see my polly pocket collection, don’t you, luhan?”
luhan just looks helplessly at kris as he is dragged away by the two boys. kris grins and mouths no can do, amigo and watches them disappear throughout the door. he lies down on the bed and curls up, pulling sehun to his chest, and closes his eyes. these moments are fleeting and few but hey, even when they’re disturbed by two noisy kids, he still cherishes every single second.

"I love my kids." (Because I always say "I miss my friends" in the exact same way when we're together)

"Go hard, or go to hell." (Because legit my friend ans I have a saying "Go hard or go home." Soooo)
And baeksoo are the cutest brats ever. Sehun too!!! I wanted to coo at them the whole time I was reading huehuehuehue
