[Fill] Baby, I've got my ion you. [2/10] anonymous March 17 2014, 01:26:27 UTC
“Park Chanyeol, please stay after school today. Maybe your putrid grade in my class explains why you can’t even grasp one of the more simple concepts of chemistry, therefore, you could really use some tutoring. I don’t want some lanky kid jeopardizing my career with his careless, failing grade.” Mr. Kim announces to the class while maintaining a rather scary glare directed at Chanyeol.

Chanyeol slumps in his chair, and is definitely not still laughing, unlike Baekhyun who finds the situation even more hilarious.

-

“It’s honestly amazing how badly you’re failing chemistry, man.” Baekhyun says after they leave pre-calculus. A rather attractive (despite his ultimate bitch face) man, Mr. Wu, teaches math, and Chanyeol and he get along rather well. So well, in fact, that no one else can manage to get away without doing their homework quite like he can. Talk about perks.

Seriously though, Chanyeol does think Mr. Wu really likes him for some unknown reason. (After all, there was that one time he skipped Brit. lit. and Mr. Wu defended him when he was inevitably caught by saying Chanyeol was ‘running errands for him’.)

“It’s not even that chemistry is all that hard. You’re just really distracted.” Baekhyun continues as they head to their next class: world history.

“It doesn’t have to be a difficult class for a person to fail, you know. And, what if I think chemistry is hard, hmm?” Chanyeol huffs.

“Hmm…. something tells me chemistry isn’t the only hard thing in Mr. Kim’s class.” Baekhyun smirks.

“Will you shut up? I’d really like it if all the student body didn’t know I had the hots for the chemistry teacher, thanks.”

“Channie, I’m pretty sure the entire school, including Mr. Wu, knows you have a major crush on Mr. Kim. Mr. Kim probably even knows. Hate to break it to you, but staring at a man 50 minutes every day isn’t the best strategy to avoid obviousness.”

Mr. Kim Joonmyun walks into the classroom soon after that, and so the history lesson begins.

-

During lunch break that day, Jongin brings up Park Chanyeol to his fellow co workers.

“Oh you have Park Chanyeol? Isn’t he a chill kid? I’ve had him for two years now; I don’t think I’ve ever seen a student who catches onto trigonometric identities and functions quite like he does. Brilliant, that kid is.” Wu Yifan says.

Jongin, so filled with surprise, almost knocks his cup of coffee over on the table. “You can’t be serious Yifan. I mean, really, you can’t be serious.”

Joonmyun adds, “Though I’ve only had Chanyeol this year, he’s always been an exemplary student in my class. I don’t think he has ever gotten below a 95 average.”

Jongin, by this point, very frustrated, argues, “You must be thinking of a different kid. He has a 47 in my class. A fucking 47. It’s like you almost have to TRY to fail that badly in my class. I’m not even that harsh of a grader; he’s just that stupid! Are we thinking of the same lanky, too clumsy, cute and cheeky grin, bright eyed boy?” By the end of his rant, Jongin realized his slip-up; did he really just call Park fucking Chanyeol’s smile “cute and cheeky”? Thinking that he actually said that aloud makes him want to barf.

“Yes, Jongin; we’re thinking of the same kid. Maybe he is just especially bad in science?” Joonmyun suggests, conveniently not questioning his description of Chanyeol, for which he was very thankful.

“I beg to differ,” Kim Minseok butts in, “I had Park Chanyeol for biology last year, and he excelled in it. I thought he was going to take anatomy this year; he even had the class for the first week of school, but at the last minute he dropped it, claiming he just ‘had to have chemistry.’” If Minseok was glaring at Jongin’s direction, he certainly did his best to hide it.

“I don’t know what’s up with him. Maybe it’s me. Maybe I’m too hard on him. Maybe….” Jongin rambles on.

“Maybe?” Joonmyun asks.

“Oh, nothing. It’s nothing. He just reminds me of someone I used to know. Uncanny.”

And, after that, the teachers’ lunch break fell into silence, yet Jongin couldn’t help but to think about that stupid smile of Park Chanyeol.

As the final bell rings, Baekhyun and Chanyeol meet up with some friends outside the front of the school.
