It starts with something small, Luhan's hands warm on Yifan's waist as he clips his name tag in place for him, but the grateful smile Yifan flashes him, eyes innocent and gums on full show, lights something in Luhan's chest.
The next time it's backstage, Yifan's mic is tangled in the sequins of his jacket and Luhan doesn't know if it's the frown on Yifan's face as he wrestles with the wire or the lingering memory of that smile but he finds himself striding over to Yifan.
"Here, let me help." He doesn't wait for an answer, prying Yifan's long fingers away and taking over. Yifan watches silently and Luhan can feel his gaze on him. They're standing close, so close the tips of Luhan's spiked hair is tickling Yifan's face and Luhan suddenly feels too hot. "Here, all done." He announces once he's done, flashing the still silent Yifan a grin before turning to leave. But he's stopped by a hand grabbing onto his wrist and he spins around to find Yifan looking back at him with a strange look in his eyes.
"Thanks." Yifan mumbles, eyes still holding that look that Luhan can't quite read. The slight blush colouring the leader's cheeks he understands, however, and Luhan's lips quirk up in a smirk.

It continuous like this for the next few weeks, Luhan finding little ways to help Yifan, little ways to bring that look back into his eyes. After a while, however, Luhan notices that Yifan always seem to be hovering near him right before something goes wrong, like he's inviting Luhan to help. The first time Luhan noticed this, Kris had purposefully moved from his usual seat next to Tao in the car to sit next to him and his belt had magically decided to jam. He'd looked at Luhan with helpless eyes and Luhan found himself almost automatically reaching across Yifan's body to tug down the seat belt. It was really jammed though and he had to yank on it, Yifan's warm breath ghosting over the side of his neck the entire time. When Luhan finally settled back in his own seat Yifan reached over and squeezed his hand in thanks, smiling warmly at him and Luhan felt his cheeks heat up.
It stayed like that for a while, innocent, discreet moments between schedules and practices but it all took a turn on on their day off. Luhan was alone in their bedroom, lazily flipping through a magazine when Yifan entered. He was dressed in his sweats, hair still wet from the shower. He nodded in Luhan's direction in greeting before settling into his own bed. Luhan had gone back to his magazine and they'd fallen silent until Yifan let out a frustrated grunt. Luhan looked up to find that the older boy was grappling with his long hair, brush in one hand as he struggled with the tangles at his nape. It only took Luhan a second to drop the magazine and get up.
"Need some help?" He said, already standing over Yifan. The older boy nodded and Luhan placed gentle hands on his shoulder, pushing him down to the floor. Yifan looked at him confused but complied as Luhan takes a seat on the bed behind him, opening his legs to accommodate Yifan.
"Your hair is getting too long." Luhan commented as he took the brush from him and began untangling the soft hair. Yifan hummed in answer, leaning back until he was comfortably settled between Luhan's legs. "I could cut it for you" Luhan continued and he knews that Yifan could probably hear the wicked smirk currently curling his lips by the scoff that the older boy reponded with. "Fine, maybe that wouldn't be the best idea." He admitted and Yifan chuckled, the sound reverberating against Luhan's thighs.

When Yifan turned to look at him, his eyes were dark, swimming with something that made Luhan want to kiss him again. The air around them had grown tense and Luhan didn't know where to look as Yifan turned his entire body around, gaze still boring into him as he kneeled in front of him. Luhan's brain was suddenly failing him and he almost jumped in surprise when he felt Yifan's hand slide up his thigh before interlocking their fingers together.
"Thank you." Yifan said, voice barely above a whisper as he rested his head on his thigh, an almost coy look to his eyes. He was smiling though, warm and unabashed, and Luhan finally figured out what to say.
"Anytime, Yifan."
