Indaba. Fridays at 9 PM. In the Church. It's an amazing experience and I think everyone should experience it at least once before they die. Alumni, if you're on campus, come. Students, definitely come (you CAN check out!) Bring your stories, hopes, dreams, favorite poems, songs, BUT: don't bring a date. Ever. Bring your friends, but don't expect to ( Read more... )

Thank you Gaby! It makes me so happy to know that you're keeping it all going. To everyone else: go! Learn about yourself and listen to others. Sit in silence, even. It's just half an hour, with cider afterwards. Take the time.

Hi Lindsey! Indaba is a gathering on Friday nights that I helped start last year. Some people will tell you that it's "sort of like EP," but it's not, really. People come to the church at nine and bring with them things they might like to read, play or sing. Others come just to listen. Often people spontaneously decide to share things they've been thinking about during the day, the week, or even just that half hour. It's a time for reflection and expression.

The word "indaba" itself means "gathering" in Zulu. Indaba was Ms. Hamilton's idea, and she helps run it. It is intended to be a community gathering: a place for students, faculty, staff, and family. A few adults have come, and a few have spoken, but so far it's mostly been the students.

It's really great and makes me happy. If you're ever back in Exeter on a Friday night, go check it out.

Oh yay! That sounds fantastic! And isn't Ms. Hamilton such a wonderful woman!

I'm glad you started it, and just hearing about it makes me happy, too! I wish I had been there to experience it!

xoxo.
Lindsey
