Unraveling the mysteries of fungal mating types.
Searching for genes on the sex chromosomes of blood parasites.
Analysing DNA from the local human population in order to identify hidden Vikings.
Fundraising for a trip to collect seedlings from the Russian Far East.
Struggling to identify a mysterious parasite from a freshwater crab collected in Madagascar.
At home I am:
Reading "The Mad Ship" by Robin Hobb.
Running "Exile", a fantasy roleplaying game set in prehistoric France.
Preparing for the annual Christmas journey to darkest North Northumberland.
Attempting to muster the enthusiasm to paint the stairs.
In general I am:
Cultivating a beard and pony tail.
Attempting to get fit again, following my decision that I am not really ill after all.
Recent achievements:
Completed the Aberystwyth 10k run in about 45 minutes (they have not published the exact times yet). My knees hate me.
