Fatherhood

Dec 07, 2009 16:39

I am now a father. My daughter Emily was born in October and barely survived the experience. However, after a torturous week in neonatal intensive care, she bounced back and is now a happy, healthy little baby. Emily started smiling at 4-weeks old and has become progressively more expressive since. She loves windows, houseplants, electric lights, music (reggae, bluegrass, blues and (regrettably) Abba), riding in her sling, being sung to (even by me), dancing in the mirror, kicking me in the stomach and sleeping in the bath. At night, Emily refuses to sleep anywhere but in our bed and she has definite (though varying) opinions regarding the the position in which she should be carried. I am very, very happy.
