The rural idyl

Jul 29, 2009 10:26

We have returned from Northumberland, laden with homegrown vegetables, homemade jam and hand-knitted baby clothes. Thank goodness for hippie parents. Also attended my first Scottish wedding and felt a little excluded by my kiltlessness. Perhaps I should get one made (I have a family tartan, why not use it?). Katy demonstrated that she can still strip the willow at 31 weeks pregnant and looked magnificently bulbous in a slinky grey dress. The parents' car broke down on a single-lane bridge and couldn't even be pushed due to locked breaks. We were eventually rescued by a friendly, one-armed farmer with a big hammer. A delightfully rural weekend.
