A New Development on the Tao Marginalization in Chinese Media Saga

Mar 19, 2015 14:58

This is probably bad timing, and I know we're all pumped about comeback, I am too!! So I'll make this super-quick and straight to the point so Sherlockisms and comeback fervor can resume.

If you're part of the EXO fandom, you are probably aware of some the marginalization and outright bullying Tao has had to endure in China since late 2011 at the hands of 'verified' (hint: paid) Chinese SNS accounts and this also spread to certain media outlets including Hong Kong tabloids and a TV station.

Some of Tao's Chinese fans have been doing some Sherlock-style investigations of their own and it has come to their attention that ironically enough, EXO-M's official Weibo account is in some way itself a party to the marginalization and misrepresentation. Whoever is running it is failing to highlight Tao's activity!

For example, ''EXO-M’s official weibo has a total of 956 posts but only 65 include Tao.'' And even in that figure there are no solo shots of Tao, but Tao in group shots.
Some have even gone on to calculate that Tao's representation on this weibo account of his 3-4 years with the group only amounts to a grand total of 3.6% -- which is sickening.

Please read more about this here and here.

Both Chinese and Korean netizens are mobilizing to address this issue by exerting some pressue either on weibo, on twitter to 'SMTOWN' or via SM's PR email:  publicity@/smtown.com
I would appreciate it if those who are interested among international fans could also show some support by doing the same.

(Hey, you can't say we excluded you and kept you in the dark this time.)

Hope we can have this issue resolved ASAP and show that this is unacceptable behavior be it any member of the group.

Thank you!
