My laptop is apparently in a fight with livejournal and auto-loads to HTML when I go to post an entry, and then it won't give me the box for my lj-cut, so I guess we'll try this.
You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.
Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-word answers seldom help anyone out.
1) First Name: Megan
2) Age: 22. Wow, past the halfway point to 23 though, where did the past 6 months go?
3) Location: Franklin, Massachusetts... or Acton, sometimes Worcester, Boston or Brighton.
4) Occupation: I work at a grocery store, in the kitchen/prepared foods, doing production, some cooking and customer service.
5) Partner: nada. There hasn't been anyone since around this time last year and there is seriously nothing in my life that is conductive to starting a relationship right now. I also have no idea where the hell I'm supposed to meet anyone now that I've graduated.
6) Kids: Umm... no. I'm going to be teaching probably at least 125 kids each year. Those are my kids. I don't need any of my own. Also, small children scare the shit out of me.
7) Brothers/Sisters: Two sisters. My twin sister Michelle has a degree in marketing and is currently working a receptionist job in Boston. We share a room and it sucks, and really, we're not close at all. My little sister Kristen is 19. Until recently she was going to a photography school. She's decided to put it off because she really isn't ready for college right now. Hopefully she'll find somewhere that's going to give her more than 12 hour s aeek to work.
8) Pets: We have a Beagle, Junior who's 11. He's fat and lazy but if there is any food around he's on it. Seriously, people have scars from his sneak attacks. I also have a Beta fish named Fletcher. I bought him during my sophomore year of college so I've had him for three years now. I didn't know fish lived this long...
9) List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
1. work: I work 40-48 hours a week at the grocery store. Technically I'm a floater and I work for the chain so I an be sent to any of the 18 stores. The one I'm at is 45-50 min from my house so the day is really so much longer than the 8.5 hour shift. I hate my job but I can pretty much do it in my sleep since I've been doing it since the summer after my freshman year of college. Blah, I am dreading the upcoming Christmas season and holiday catering, in addition to all the catering changes they are making. Prices are going up and people who come ino grocery stores are bitchy.
2. Finding a job: Yes, I know I have a job but I want one that actually has to do with that pretty piece of paper that Assumption College gave me back in May. I have a degree in History and Secondary Education. I am licensed by the state of Massachusetts to teach history at the High School level. I was so happy when student teaching ended but now I miss it so much. Subbing just isn't an option right now due to finances. I'm trying to find a job in state to teach next year. I have a few leads for next year already (most promising is my high school nemesis, surprisingly enough). Part of me wants to just move somewhere far away and go from there bu Massachusetts has one of the best education programs in the country so... (also, I don't know how easy it would be to transfer a license and what the other tests are like.)
3. Seeing my friends: Almost all of my friends from high school have moved out of my hometown. I go to visit a few of them in Boston and I still spend time with the one's who are here. Last weekend I got to hang out with my roommates (from senior year. yes, I still call them my roommates). I love these girls to death and I barely get to see them even though most of them live less than an hour away.
4. Music: Really, this is something I find I can look forward to even on my worst days. I've gotten a lot of new music in the past few months and that always makes me happy. My ever growing mixedtape playlist features all that and my old favorites -cough-SoCO. The one thing I spend money on is concert tickets. November was the first month in the past year that I can think of where I didn't go to a single concert. I did, however, go to three in October. Thank goodness my bands are mostly inexpensive.
10) Parents: My dad is a bigshot in the grocery chain I work for. He is in charge of all the bakeries. Yeah, wonder how I got that job. Last year he was diagnosed with Leukemia and was in the hospital for part of the summer. Luckily all the treatment has gone really well and he's been back to work full time since April. He was cleared to leave the country too, which means when my parents go away int he spring there will definitely be a party of some sort.
My mom just changed jobs. She used to be a lab tech but now she's an acocunt manager for Umass Medical... which is right near the school I just graduated from. Seriously, why didn't this happen when I was still there? My mom is definitely one of my favorite people in the world. She and I do a lot together.
11) Who are some of your closest friends?: Amanda, Sarah and Courtney are some of my best friends from home. Then there are my roommates: Kazi, Christine, Kristen and the other Megan. (We love being confusing). I've got my boys: Andrw (who is finally home from Iraq!), Joe and Francis. There's also an obscenely large Franklin crew which I think has grown to include Dawn, MattyV, Scott (and his soon to be wife), the northeastern boys-Scotlund, Zack, Rishi- and others. I've got a bunch of people online in various fandoms that I've gotten closer to in the past year or so too.
One of my roommates once pointed out that I kind of spread myself around to a lot of different groups as far as friends go. I never really realize it until I look at something like this. Damn.
