Some days all I do is watch the sky...
Okay, so here it is... the one time of year I'm going to ask you all for money.
I have added a lot of new friends thi year but just as many people were around two years ago when my dad got sick. For those of you who don't know, at the end of my junior year of college (we're talking two days before classes ended) my dad was diagnosed with Leukemia which pretty much led to an awful summer for everyone in my family. Luckily the drugs they put him on got him into remission quickly and one of his brothers was a perfect stem cell match. He spent less than a month in the hospital and has been back to work full-time for over a year. He was finally allowed to leave the country as of February and he and my mom took a trip to Aruba.
So here's the thing, we were really, really lucky. In the past month the second girl from the graduating class two years after me died of Leukemia. My neighbor knew both of them and she's devastated. One of my sister's college friends lost his mom to breast cancer last week. It really terrifies me to think that could have happened to my dad, no matter how much we fight.
So, as much as I hate asking people for money I'm going to do it once now, and probably again next month before Relay actually starts. I know a lot of you are broke college students or pretty strapped for cash but if you can manage even a small donation I would really appreciate it. You can see my Relay page here.
