So I leave tomorrow for LDAC...33 days of intense workouts, people getting in my face and god only knows what else. I'm as prepared now as I'm ever gonna be. I'm sure there'll be times where it sucks, but at least I know everyone's gonna be in the same boat as me. My performance will dictate whether I'll get the branch of my choice...really competitive stuff.
I had to learn this back when I was pledging Pershing Rifles, and I think it pretty much says it all.
Invictus
By William Ernest Henley
Out of the night that covers me
Black as the pit from pole to pole
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud
Under the bludgeoning of chance
My head is bloodied but unbowed
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid
It matters not how straight the gate
How charged with punishment the scroll
I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul
Nuff said.
