Just been having the greatest time with one of my most favourite of all people: Ms. Laura Beth Thompson. She's back in the ol' Ply-izzle, and, since she lives up the freakin' street, I've been hanging out as much as I can. I missed the Thompsons, shoot. The highlights have included: Peruvian pictures session at the Panera; Arrested Development; Russel, Elbow, and the Jeetster; very potent wine last night; a walks around Lake Harriet; and Lor's 21st birthday celebration at the Dakota. Man, what a 21st. Really good, classy drinks (curtesy of the parents), AMAZING food, and FABULOUS LIVE JAZZ. A female singer transitioned from "I've Got Rythmn" to the Flintstones theme song. Man.
I've also been working quite a bit. But that's not nearly as exciting.
Work tomorrow, only for a bit in the morning/early afternoon, then Baker Saturday and Sunday, then PACKING. Wow. This has snuck up on me quite quickly.
By the way, I've learned quite a bit of Spanish from the Thompsons:
-Santa Cola: a Columbian brand of rum (Amy lives in Columbia now) that's entire ad campaign focuses on ladies' butts. Why? Well, cola, meaning coke, get it, they want you to drink this rum with soda, but cola also is slang in Columbia for butt. It's a silly pun!
-Hermano: "Brother." The people in Arrested Development mistake it for a man's name; hilarity ensues.
-Mojito: Lor's drink of the night. Rum with lime and mint. The national drink of Cuba. "I really don't consider it a gay drink..."
