Recent events here have made me reconsider these...escape tokens. It was mentioned that some were attempting to steal them - which obviously means that there are people with them here. Don't misunderstand, my intention is not to take them. My goal is to see just how many have them here ( Read more... )

...'Escape tokens'?

Yes. From what I was told, they were given from participating in missions. Once a person collects four, they're able to leave.

Or at least, that's what we've been told. I haven't been able to find any any evidence that proves this to be fact.

[Riku nods in thought.]

And I assume that missions and tokens are both distributed by kernos, huh?

[How terribly convenient, he thinks, snorting unamused.]

I can see why you are skeptical.

[He is too.]

That's how I understand it.

While it would be beneficial for it to be true, I still can't help but think there would be a catch somewhere.

[It's a strange, counterintuitive phenomenon, but when a person draws attention to the fact that they don't have the intention of acting a certain way that Light starts becoming skeptical. Suspicious even. Perhaps it's jaded, but to Light it's simply reflex. He takes little at face value. For the time being, Light's decided to stay anonymous. Everyone thinks he's dead, so why not take advantage of this while he can? Which means, he'll be using Lelouch for a harmless experiment.]

[Naturally, anything that came under "anonymous" would immediately get his guard up. He knows how useful anonymity is - having worked under the name of "Zero" for so long.

So he was going to be careful here. He has no idea who he's dealing with, whether it be someone he knows that may have come here without him being aware of it, or someone completely different.

He chooses his words carefully before responding.]

I'm attempting to remain undecided on what I really think on this matter until I find out some more information. At the present time, it sounds like it's almost too good to be true.

[There's nothing in what Lelouch is writing that Light disagrees with per se. The phrasing at least makes it seem as though he's the diplomatic sort--or the sort that would like to appear diplomatic. Light thinks nothing of it for now. Whoever Lelouch is, he's probably well educated.

Of course, having gone home briefly without the benefit of exit tokens makes it that much easier for Light to be condescending about Lelouch's ambivalence, but for right now, that isn't the point. In more practical terms, this reminds Light that he should put more effort into changing the way he speaks through text as well, so as not to get called out on this later. If it's any consolation, Light feels slightly ridiculous.]

[Good, because Lelouch feels kind of ridiculous to be talking to a person who's texting in this manner. If he weren't a little interested in who was behind this, he would more than likely end the conversation altogether.]

I don't mind a game every now and then, but something like this? No.

[Simple enough.]

I don't believe anyone appreciates a game like this.

[The voice of an older man, gruff with a southern accent, answers.]

No, they've done nothin' to prove they're worth trustin'. I wouldn't trust'em farther than I can throw'em.

[Another anonymous...at least it wasn't text this time.]

I'm inclined to believe you, but I still can't help but be curious.

[Yet unlike the previous anon, this one isn't all that concerned about remaining hidden. Eliot just doesn't like having his picture on the network.]

I know where you're comin' from. I'm tellin' you, you'll like them less the longer you stay here.

I would imagine you'd know from experience. Just how long have you been here?

[he sounds rather disappointed... though not at the mention of the tokens] So this place really is just another game board.

Though, if those tokens really are valuable enough for people to try and gather them, what are the chances that they'll say the have one on a public forum such as this?

That's what it sounds like.

I've thought of that - really, it was just curiosity. A poll, you could say. If no one participates...well, I suppose I'll find out eventually.

[Because he's just trying to seem not very nosy...]

[out of one game and into another...]

I guess that's one way of looking at it.

Considering I just got here not too long ago, I can say that I don't have a token in my possession. [pause, then with a slight hint of trepidation] How... What are the 'missions' here like? Do you know?

Patience is key at times if you want information, isn't it?

I see. [He pauses.] I'm not sure, as I've never participated in one. If anyone answers my original question about the tokens, that would be my next one.

[Abby remembers her discussion with Eliot and tries to be more careful.]

I don't know if they work or not but it's the only chance I've seen so far to leave.

[Yet another anon - well, to each their own. At least now that these things were capable of anonymity.]

Even if it means going along with our captors?

If you manage to come up with another way to get out of here, I'm sure we'd all be happy to hear it. I haven't found anything.
