There's no 'win or lose'. There's 'hang around and don't die and maybe someday you'll go home'.

so by surviving, your reward is leaving.

is there a reason why?

Our strongest theory so far is 'to fuck with us'. You see how well this is going.

unfortunate.

do people die often here?

how did you lose?

[She was curious about the mother part, but she definitely knew better than to ask about family members, if they were discussed in such a distressing way.]

[Sacraments? Was this some sort of cult thing? Maybe she shouldn't have asked, but she had to know.]

what sort of sacraments?

thank you~ and I am getting to bed before I repeat a typo like that. chainlocks November 24 2011, 08:29:12 UTC
the 21 Sacraments. it's the only way to wake my mother up.

[if text could bear emotions, this one would hold some pride.]

[There's a few seconds of Anders starting at the message, uncertain what to make of it.]

I'm not certain I'd really call this a game, no matter what they say. Games aren't about people fighting for survival.

they aren't?

i suppose that is true for the pawns.... but what if the masters of this game are the ones playing?

someone must be benefiting from this.

I'm not certain that anyone has to be benefiting from this. Deriving some sort of sick, sadistic pleasure, maybe, but that's not really the same thing. I'd hope anyway.

But your guess is as good as mine as to who's behind this and what they might gain from it. In the time I've been here, I haven't heard of anyone who's found out what's really going on.

so we have a mystery, then. that's almost like a game.

what do you do here, then?

You lost your mother?

[That was a lot more important, in Luke's opinion.]

I was worried about my parents when I showed up here, too. But, if she's not on this island, it means she's safe back home, right?

[that's quite possibly the nicest thing Walter has heard in a while.]

i didn't really lose her... i couldn't wake her up.

but yes, i'm sure my mother is safe where she lives. she will wait.

i'm sorry your parents are not with you.

Couldn't wake her up? Is she sick?

[Luke was assuming this was a young kid, so it was probably a bad idea to get too deep in to troubling discussions.]

That's good! I'm glad she'll be okay. And, it's okay, I'd rather they weren't here. This place isn't very nice...I wouldn't want my mom to be in danger, either.

Where are you? Are you safe inside the walls yet?

she's just sleeping. she has been for a while.

but i think you're right. this place isn't very appealing.

i'm fine, i think. found a key and found the lock it went to, though it took time.

what's your name?

Perfect.

You'll fit right in here.

Oh. Just something about that message tipped me off.

Welcome to the lunatic club.

You wouldn't be the first one to say something like that. People said the same things at home.

Are there others that make you think that here?
