[The communicator turns on to the sound of wind whipping at the speakers. A male voice speaks in a dry, flanging tone. He seems almost nonchalant. In the background, just barely audible in the pauses of the wind, is the sound of footsteps.]

An interesting way to welcome a guest, though not the strangest I've seen.

Don't people want to help others all the time when everyone is in the same situation?

Most favor self-preservation instead. However, there are rare occurrences.

Then I guess ... we're all rare here.

It's dangerous to generalize too much. There's no way of telling who's putting up an act and who's genuine. At least, not initially. There are... methods of testing it.

Torture, primarily. Threatening someone's life. There's a variety of methods.

At the moment, no. In the future, perhaps. It'd be foolish to rule out the possibility of it happening this early on.
