003 Audio [Day Four, Daytime]

((The following recording is taken from this thread))

[The camera pans to a trail of slime leading towards the shore. Who ever's recording is following it until it guides him just out of reach of the tide to a rocky area.]

The trail ends here.

[Some of you may recognize Sai's voice. Now we see the slime simply disappearing around a large pile of rocks ( Read more... )

[OOC: I assume that L managed to get to the hospital with Tsuna's help and is currently there right now with a burned (but functional and not permanently damaged) knee. I assume these things simply because I don't want to hold up action and that's the way those threads seemed to be going, SO! Hopefully that's OK.]

[L has been careful about making himself known on the networks since he was attacked by monsters and helped out by Tsuna, simply because he has a badly burned leg and isn't particularly mobile at present. He's been chilling in the hospital, because it seems like the right sort of place to be when he can't move quickly or efficiently. It's not fantastic, since it's still a painful situation and he's concerned about infection, but it could be a lot worse. The slime could have eaten away muscle or even bone, and then he'd be out a leg and forced to survive this "game" at a brisk, frantic hop.

But he sees this, and it just seems... well, highly relevant.]

You're really taking charge of this situation. Good for you.[Not that ( ... )

[Light could make a fairly reasonable guess at who this anonymous texter is. Implied familiarity, vague condescension make for a distinctive voice, though it's not quite definite.]

The map should be attached as an image. The location is marked on there. [Then the gamble. If this is who he thinks it is, then they'd know what he is referring to.] I wouldn't have expected you to participate in either case. You were injured quite badly, weren't you?

[Not bad, Light. L cuts the anonymous crap, now that the conversation is locked.]

You recognize me far too easily for me to be comfortable with. Perhaps I should adopt a radically different style of typing, if it's really so simple... granted, you're smarter than most your age, but it alerts me to the possibility that I am far too consistent in my syntactic patterns and lexical choices.

Hao abowt thiss. Mabee et wood be moer ov a challinj for u if I neglektid two bothre wyth mye unkannilee perfekt speling. I bet yood luv that.

But yes, I am injured. Do you want to come visit me and take a stab at proving you're Kira? I promise I won't tell, should the temptation strike you. It's probably maddening to think that I'm continuing to survive. That is... only if you're Kira. If you're truly my friend, the innocent and upstanding Light Yagami, son of the police chief Soichiro Yagami, I'm certain that you're very distressed.

Such binary thinking isn't like you. It wouldn't be beyond reason for the innocent and upstanding Light Yagami, son of the police chief Soichiro Yagami to become maddened if his friend were to send him poorly articulated text messages. Nonetheless, it is good to hear that you were not mortally wounded. Try not to overexert yourself during your convalescence.

[As impressed and approving of the organization as Eliot is for this monster hunt, he cannot just stand by and watch without making comment. Not when the young man on the other end is suggesting people go down into a nest of those things and likely never come back.

Nevermind the surprise of hearing his roommate's voice speaking in translated English. Or that he saw squiggles of ink go into a tunnel. There were some things that just shouldn't be done.]

Do that and people are just gonna get killed. There's recon, and there's suicide missions. That sounds awfully like the latter to me.

Those things are afraid of fire. I suggest blockin' any tunnel exits and just takin' them out with a blaze.

How do you know they're afraid of fire?

[That would be very useful information to know prior to going inside. Also, Hello Roomie! Your roommate here doesn't know how to use his communicator as efficiently as you yet, so although your voice is scrabbled his is sadly, not.]

[OOC: His snakes are out of the recording's view. They're never recorded by the camera during the video clip.]

[Sadly, his is not scrambled at all. It's merely anon, but that telltale southern drawl with the gruff undertone? Still there by the gallons with an extra helping of gruffness.]

They're animals, they've still got their animal instincts. It worked that night when we dealt with them in hordes.

[[OOC: Oh! Oops. Scratch that part of what I said above. Thought it was all part of the video. My bad!]]

[He'll pick up your unique drawl soon enough, but for now, he has no idea he's talking to his roommate, which means, they don't talk enough. ;_;]

You used fire to scare them or kill them?

[OOC: No problem! I always misread things myself! XD]

Ugh, still?! If you've got stuff to stab, just say that!

[You might recognize this voice from the recording, then again, you might not.]

We've got stuff to stab.

[Already he likes this guy so much better than the long winded one.]

Yeah, that's more like it!! You. I'll deal with you.

[Very long winded.]

Did you get the map?

[For as much as Light seemed competent and capable, Draco didn't trust him. It was for that reason that he hadn't mentioned the Imperius Curse; keeping it quiet had seemed prudent. Useful ― not, he supposed, that it'd ultimately matter, not when he knew he could perform it.]

I could get a creature in there.

[Draco, Light finds you useful. He doesn't want others to find you useful. Conversation is locked from here on out.]

Magic, I assume. If you recall our first conversation, I had advised you to keep your abilities to yourself. Please remember that should anyone else ask you how it is you are capable of doing this. What exactly can you do? [Translation, what else have you been hiding?]

I remember, Light. I don't have any intentions of helping just anyone out.

[A deliberated pause.]

The Imperius Curse. Whoever and whatever's subjected to it has to obey the will of the caster.

[There's a bit of a long pause on Light's end. The Imperius curse is almost too good to be true. In fact, now more than ever, Light needs to make sure Near, and L don't find out about Draco's magic. Or at the very least not the specific nature of this spell. If no one else could safely navigate the tunnels, then perhaps Light would be forced to reconsider, but until then.]

How long does this spell remain effective? And how absolute is your control?

[Gaara sees the post and saves a copy of the map into his device. Reconnaissance first? A wise decision.

Was there a need to respond? Unsure.]

I am currently exploring the vicinity. Noteworthy information will be reported.

[With that short message, he turns his attention back to the tunnels.]
