i'm home. we actually wound up leaving new york at about 4:30 yesterday morning, and i got home about 11 am, but i had a project to do. still havent finished that paper. i fell asleep around 7:30 last night, and now im awake. im considering working on the paper, but figured i ought to update. new york was miserable. again. the place we visit, sullivan county, is so depressing. the government taxes people so highly there that businesses don't repaint their buildings...if they do, the property gets reassessed and taxes go up. people are charged to dump their trash, so nobody goes to the public dump; they dump their trash in their backyards or in the woods somewhere. every place you look, a fence is falling down, cars are rusted and loud. they cough and pop down dirty, unkept roads that lead to nowhere. the sky is always grey, and it coats the town in a slippery, grimey pallor. i saw some good movies though...i was hiding inside from the cold all week, and i saw being john malkovich and eternal sunshine in the spotless mind. both good movies. i also saw the incredibles in a sticky theater. it does, as im sure you could all assume, live up to its namesake. anyway, it feels wonderful to be back in virginia, and as soon as i finish this fucking othello paper, ill be happy as a clam(i love that expression). im off to try to finish that. take care, all, and ill see you in a few hours!
