And how was your morning?

Well, that didn't take long. What, two weeks? I set off the alarm for the first time today. Here is the full story.

It is 8am. My coffee is brewing, mind you, and not yet in my veins so I am but a zombie.
Hope comes downstairs, dressed for school, wearing capri pants and a cropped short-sleeve hoodie. I know that it is 34 degrees outside, having just finished watching the news. So I say "Hope, go open the front door and tell me if you think that is an appropriate outfit for school today"

I say this because generally she gives me a song and dance if I criticize her wardrobe choices, so it's best to let her see for herself...

So, she opens the front door. The most gawdaweful, ear splitting shrieking comes out of the alarm box. Megan panics, Hope freezes, and I quickly hit the disarm code. We're all standing there like deer caught in the headlights while Dennis just nonchalantly eats his english muffin.

Alarm box "This is monotronics alarm company with a distress call. Is there an emergency?"

Me (still without coffee and feeling sheepish) "No, sorry. We just forgot and opened the front door"

I then had to provide all sorts of verifying information and passwords to prove that there were, in fact, no shenanigans afoot in the Sousa household at 8am this morning. This, my friends, is why my children will end up in therapy.
