Shoving his hands into the pockets of his brown pinstriped pants, the Doctor strolled across the classroom, feeling a rush of excitement. Yes, indeed, being stuck was inconvenient; indeed, he hated the thought of being trapped in one place. The old property and picket fence idea was frightening to him. He had wandered for so long, it was all he knew.
But Desai University offered plenty of opportunities to poke around and investigate exactly where he was, and at the same time provided him the chance to work on the TARDIS. The poor old girl, he bowed his attention, focusing on the long windows and wooden armed desks before him. The biology lab was homey enough, and he and found some interesting posters in the supplies room to hang on the wall, making it look like a place of learning. Far, far better than working for the Military, which he had done the last time he was exiled.
He kicked the floor absently, testing the soles of his shoes. "Hmm, they feel a tad warn… must be pacing…" He thought and grabbed a chair bending his knees up and down several times before jumping on one foot to another. He made a mental thought to go into town and find himself a new pair of sneakers. "Too much running around, good pair of shoes are so hard to find…"
He hopped around the room, mind preparing his mental notes, young people were so eager to learn and he liked the idea of forging young minds into fine tuned creative thinker. It made him all giddy inside…
He was in the process of bouncing from foot to foot when there was a knock on the door and an older gentlemen peeked him. "Ah, Doctor Smith, I trust you are ready for your first day…"
He paused in mid hop, and ran his hand though his long unruly bangs. "Ahh, shoes, I need new shoes, but yes, quite ready…" He snapped his fingers, dropping his foot on the floor and marching to his desk. "Biology! Wonderful subject! Today we introduce classification, Kingdoms and Phylum's and all that!" He paused and squinted at the man, trying to place his face. Yes, yes the man who hired him. "Ah… yes, very ready…."
The face before him lifted a brow. "New Shoes?"
"Yes, new shoes. But I have a banana, so I'll be fine for the day, I'll
pick some up a little later…" he said, pulling the yellow fruit from his suit jacket pocket. "They're full with potassium, makes one forget their feet, you know…"
