I've spent the evening in the typical fashion for a Friday: cooking dinner, drinking wine, talking about gaming. There were plans to start watching season two of The Shield (which I think I missed most of when it was on TV), but that's been derailed by dessert. Not that I'm upset by that at all - it's been incredibly relaxing. I like food, and I like to slob about while making it.
Dinner was Che Tibby's "Mafiosa" pasta, the recipe for which can be found on Object Dart (I'd rather not link to it from here - Technorati sees all, Technorati knows all etc). I think I underdid it - not quite enough garlic, chili or parsely. But it was tasty, particularly with some ciabatta buns to soak up the oil. And I wouldn't want to overdo it...
Dessert is my fourth (I think) attempt at tarte tatin. Caramel in a suacepan (too small to get all the apples in, dammit, but that's OK according to most recipes anyway), and trying to get the colour just right. I'll know quite soon if its turned out, but the reports of manuka honey coloured caramel ooze sound good.
Drinking: Kim Crawford 2005 Merlot (Quite tasty, but I think I may have lost my taste for Merlot, having drunk a lot of Shiraz recently).
