Open Mic Night

Feb 22, 2005 01:30

It's official, open mic night was a success. I was told (many times) that I played and sang awesomely, and that no one could tell I had a cold. I played "Out of the Blue" by Jake Donze, "Layla" by Eric Clapton (biffed the solo in that, but only mistake I really made) and "Wonderwall" by Oasis. It was freaking sweet. People got out lighters and cell phones.

Afterwards we went to Helen C. and I was playing for a while. Then a dude came and told me I had to stop. He said it was the first time in his 17 year career that he had to stop someone from playing a musical instrument in the library. He said it sounded good though, lol. As well Jen Crocker wrote a poem about it, here it is:

Alex and his Axe

Live music in the library
Shut down by the man
Some things just aren't meant to be

Playing to a crowd of three
This guy of the richetta clan
Live music in the library

Guitar balanced on his knee
Playing out as best he can
Some things just aren't meant to be

Sometimes he stares out at me
His face is a calm dead-pan
Live music in the library

Then entered the man with keys
Bringing down the music ban
Some things just aren't meant to be

First time in seventeen years that he
Had to stop the music, damn
Live music in the library
Some things just aren't meant to be

Current Music: Metallica - Fixxxer
Damn I rule
