J'lor and Derek discuss their new home, their Lord host, and other problems. J'lor asks Derek to promise something. Derek instead asks a simple question, and J'lor provides an honest answer.

Sometimes, honesty is not the best policy.

In this part: The exiles arrive. Six weyrlings are lost -between- in the jump. Lord Odern, Lucian and Ownah greet their new holdmates.

The exiles move to Five Mines. In this part: Preparations on the island and the first few waves of people go ahead. Weyrlings wait for the last 'wave' to go between, S'val is very ill, and Zoma seems to be missing.

Day 18 of... the previous month. E'sere returns from his visit to Five Mines (the second such) to report. J'lor arrives just in time to save E'sere from having to make some uncomfortable explanations.

( I think you underestimate his ambition )

Derek comes across J'lor and a long-overdue conversation regarding the revelations of the all-exile conference and vote takes place. Fuckups occur. You can almost feel the doom creeping in.

( Early in the fifth month of the third turn )

Derek informs Aivey that he's sending E'sere away.
Good to his word, Derek sends E'sere away.
J'lor, the next day, is a little peeved about the whole thing.
