Doesn't look like there's any recourse this time, seems like everyone who is homeless and relying on FEMA to do what they said they were going to do is going to be homeless unless they have somewhere to go. I believe they said they were cutting off all hotel support tomorrow. If someone can, please check the accuracy of that date but I'm pretty certain.
I've been seeing more and more people with Anti-FEMA shirts and FEMA commentary shirts, just walking around. Anytime I wear mine I'm asked by people where to buy it.
So I dub this Saturday FEMA FEEDBACK DAY! Wear your Anti-FEMA/FEMA commentary shirt wherever you go, let everyone know that we know we're getting screwed over and we're all in it together. And that we will persevere! Maybe we can have a Jazz Funeral for FEMA Funds like the Jazz Funeral for Democracy down at Jackson Square later in the evening Saturday as well. I'll be working most of the day probably, but I'm going to wear the FEMA shirt there. (got a job with a local company, had another with a national corp but quit it to work this one). If you don't have one of the shirts already I recomend Funrockn' (right across decatur from the dervish) and Kulture Vulture (on Dumaine off of Decatur), that way it's going to a local company or people. Also the Sigh Co. "Rebuild New Orleans" shirt is good, www.sighco.com, and gives money to charity. However that doesn't really convey the meaning.
So anyone up for this? Or have a better idea than a Jazz Funeral for FEMA Funds? Maybe around 6 or so in the evening at Jackson Square? Sound good to everyone?
To those who are in danger of losing their dwellings right now, my thoughts are with you.
