I have no lack of empathy for the people who suffered in any way during the Virginia Tech shootings, and I have no empathy on a personal level with the person who committed the actions (I know what it's like to feel alone, however I've never even come close to doing anything like that). However I do have an issue with the media.
The media, for sensationalism immediately began calling this "the deadliest shooting in the history of america" and "the worst massacre in the history of america". While there is no argument possible that this was not horrible the titles that they applied to it for ratings via sensationalism do it and other incidents an injustice.
Just one example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wounded_Knee_MassacreThe Massacre at Wounded Knee (committed by US troops on US soil), 300 Dakota Souix dead, 25 US troops dead (mostly from friendly fire).
Again, this is a rant directed towards the media and how they handle things.
