[Envy switches the video on to show himself sitting in what look like some of the higher branches of a tree, although not so high that he's in danger of his perch breaking. Someone is obviously enjoying the sun and warm weather Johto is having right now

[China had already been out walking by the time Envy made his broadcast. It was strange feeling the wind blow through his short hair, not feeling his ponytail flowing behind him. He leans against the tree trunk and folds his arms. He doesn't look directly at Envy, though, he only looks toward the horizon.]

They say bad things happen when people mess with time, aru. It's such a delicate and frail thing.

[Envy moves down to a lower branch so that he can converse better. He frowns.]

Maybe. But bad things are going to happen even if I don't mess with it.

Where did this come up from all of a sudden? [He looks up at Envy with a puzzled face.]

Just something I've been thinking about. Someone else from my world showed up, talking about the future a few weeks back.

Figured I might as well ask.

From the way you're talking, it doesn't sound like Edward, aru...

I've asked myself that same question countless times. I wonder that, if I could go back in time and prevent all the bad things from happening to me, would I? It might to do some good, that is a possibility, but there's also a possibility that it will do even more harm than before, aru.

[Envy shakes his head.] No, it's someone else. Roy Mustang, have you met him?

[He's hoping that China hasn't gone and made friends with Mustang too.]

I guess there's not any way of knowing. [He puts a hand to his face in frustration.] It'd be easier if I could just say the bastard was lying, but I don't think he was.

You mean the Brigadier General? We have talked to each other once before, aru. I didn't tell him about you, though, I only told him that I knew Edward. [He didn't tell Mustang only because he didn't want to get Envy into any sort of trouble, not because he wanted to protect himself. If Ed had bad things to say about Envy, then perhaps the Brigadier General did too.]

...What did he say to you? [A pause.] Unless you don't want to tell me, aru. I understand.

That's probably a good thing.

[Envy's quiet for a long moment.] That in my future and his past, we get into a fight. [It's pretty clear that there's more to it than that, though, from Envy's tone.]

I just didn't want to be the cause for getting you into unwanted trouble, aru.

...Do you... die in that fight? [He says the word "die" so quietly that it's almost inaudible.]

[The way Envy narrows his eyes, glaring to the side, and how his sudden white-knuckled grip on the tree branch his hand is against is a very telling 'yes' to that question.]

I'm going to change it.

[China can't deny that a part of him is torn to hear about how such a future was in store for Envy. It was cruel.]

How do you plan on doing so?

Not sure. Maybe I'll just go after him first.

Well, what else can I do? I don't want to die.
