I got the warning notice in my email box this morning, so I went ahead and renewed my paid account. This means that I can continue posting by email, accepting SMS via LJ, and so on for another year. w00t.
So there's cons coming up. And, with cons, the usual con frustration. I recently got in touch with Katsucon to confirm co-panelists, so that everybody who needs one can get a badge, and to my dismay got a reply saying that the list of panels hasn't been finalised, meaning that we all may be doing three panels at Katsu...or none. Then again, maybe I'm getting spoiled. Otakon is an event on a huge scale, so they have to lock down their schedule early in order to ensure printing gets the materials by deadline, and AUSA is small enough that they pretty much give programming to whoever gets in touch by a certain date. Katsucon, though, is, well, Katsucon.
That said, I still haven't heard back from Otakon at all about panels (not even a "Thank you for the offer, we'll think about it."). Hopefully they're going to add a fourth track for live programming. What I'd like to see is a series of niche panels in the small rooms that the con has but doesn't use, which only hold 30-50 people.
I also called up the Tremont Plaza today about booking a room. To my dismay, they've dropped the number of acceptable adults in the rooms from four to two. Yes, that's right, they want to charge $20/night/person for rooms containing more than two adults. To top it off, it looks like the con rate isn't even a discount - the hotel website shows the same rate for the nights in question. At this point, I'm just going to pass off reserving things to
rlohengramm and hope for the best.
Lately I've been continuing to chain smoke Dendoh, but last night I had to stop after one episode (#27). Why? Well, last night I was just too damn tired to read subtitles. Instead, I watched another episode of Dame Edna (guests: Jane Seymour, Arthur Marshall (read: the really funny one), and Larry Hagman (JR on Dallas, the main male chracter on I Dream of Jeannie)) and worked on getting God Mars #43-53 prepped for editing. I've got the DVD ripped and the scripts OCR'ed, but I have to encode the LQ's, split off the individual ep scripts, replace the OP/ED with the proper one, etc. It'll take another day or two at most. I also have to work on getting GM#34 through QC.
In other A-C news, Kyoji's apparently hanging out fulltime on MSN again, but not AIM or IRC. This is bad, since he has the channel ownership and has been pretty much MIA in all group functions since the start of fall semester. Ideally I can get on GAIM and find him and figure out what the heck's happening with his projects, but who knows at this point. The time difference doesn't help eitehr.
I also want to do some sort of special A-C thing for Christmas, be it a bonus ep or two of God Mars, the first ep of Guardress, Twilight Q, or just *something*. I want to put out a trailer reel for 2005's releases as well, but need to know what Ant's up to before doing so (and cut a promo for Guardress, since there weren't any on the LDs).
Not much happening, otherwise. I'm going to a Celtic Christmas concert in a couple weeks, but that's all I really have on my social calendar. Ah well, quiet times are nice. And if I could get to sleep before 1AM sometime this week, it would also be nice (I've been up late all week because Eric's computer got fuxx0r3d, and there've been people over working on fixing things/setting up his new one).
Back to work!
