So, like, around the end of September I had this nice epic post planned, but shit has hit the fan at work. While the people I work with are nice, not perfect, the people I work for have done some stuff, that has left me pissed off/emo/and broke, though the order of which I experience those things depends on the time of day. I don't want to go into detail about it, because I'll just rant, and that's not good for me. Maybe once this blows over, I'll go into more detail. Or
wyldlock will make a post, and I'll just link y'all.
Instead, this post shall be about things that have made me happy at one point or another in my recent on/off bout of emo. Really, it's not like 24/7 emo, more like, I'll be distracted by somthing, work/food/tv/arashi/arashiontv/shiny/whatever, but once it's over, the emo comes back.
So, in no particular order:
SMAP concert: Something so rare and miraculous that not even everyone in the fan club got tickets to it. The first SMAP concert since the last time I was in Japan as an exchange student. The album is awesome, it's very artsy, and has two songs done by will.i.am from Black Eyed Peas, the "theme song", which is instrumental, and Shingo's solo. The theme of the concert was like a night travelers performance, with vampire costumes and circus music and clowns. I got seats in the arena, they would have been nice, if not for tall boy (WTF and GUY at a SMAP concert?) in front of me. I managed to score a balloon and ribbon, so overall it was cool. Only down side was rain, oh, and getting my camera taken by concert staff >.<. I had just got off from work and forgot to put it in the bag with my work clothes.
Aimee visiting: So, last weekend Aimee came up for the Scottish Highland games, and it was overall a cool weekend, though, this was after I had become broke, so it was tight but, credit cards rock. Highlights: finding the awesome supermarket in the Seibu department store in Ikebukuro station. They have pumpkin filing! In a can!! OMG!!! So getting it when I'm not poor and somehow making PIE!! I was naughty and bought some stuff on my credit card, but I think that's about it for clothing/accessory/whatever until I have money. And then it's going to be very limited. *headnod* The actual games were interesting, I had haggis, though Aimee said it was shit haggis, so....I'll have to try it again someday. I did have an awesome sausage though and got a Scotland flag pin for my collection. Also, went to Tower and read a bunch of gossip magazines, I know, I know, but it felt GOOOOOOD. Lastly, met up with Aimee's friend and got to eat at a cheap Izakaya.
PWNing bratty kids at school: I've reached the point in teaching where I feel confident in exercising my authority over students. This has ranged from getting Junior High students to stop fucking around work during class, to verbally bitch slapping some sixth graders for: using that stupid "fake" English accent and laughing at me making a mistake in Japanese. Luckily, both times the teacher was totally with me on it. I'm going to start getting the JH kids about the accent thing too, especially if I can get the P.E. teacher in on it. Have you ever seen an anime/drama/movie with like that one teacher who just rips apart all the entire student body and they all listen to him? We have one, and his awesome. He has the same birthday as me. ^_^v he's one my role models. I'm pretty sure I can ask him that if I threaten to send students to him for acting like dickwads in class, that he'll follow through.
My Girls Kicking Ass in the Speech Contest: I spent most of the time I was working in August, plus time after school in September helping three girls for the city speech contest. They are all amazing in their own right, and while their teacher said I was strict with them, and I was, I also had a ton of fun with them, sometimes taking an hour break just to chill. Because they're awesome enough to have one. Well, I got 1st, 2nd and 4th in the contest. ^______^ This totally made the rest of my week. Right now I'm helping the first place girl practice for the prefectural competition. Which I can't go to since I'm at elementary that day.
Iron Man: Finally came the fuck out in Japan, and it was awesome. Saw it with Jason, which made it even more awesome, since we totally geeked out at the same. Now, I would hit Tony Stark like the fin of an angry cod, but the minute I saw all of his toys in the garage, I was gone. Take me, take me now you snarky, jaded, awesome, man. Iron Man was like awesome, because it wasn't just about the action and Tony, Tony is my kind of bastard. Went and ordered it on DVD, and should be here soon. Also, DLed it, and randomly watch parts of it when I'm emo. Why so awesome? It's because of the goatee, his an Awesome Goatee Man, or, AGM.
.
Nabari no Ou: AKA Ninjas for people who like teh pretties. Though, I worry that watching it in large doses might give me an eating disorder. Holy CLAMPtastic skinny charcter designs Batman!! It drew me in for the pretty, and I stayed for the Seiyuus and the morally gray. Like, dude, seriously, so much gray. Makes me happy.
The characters are amazing, and I fantard over them all the time. I'm going to be sad when it's over, but there's always the manga.
That Shoujo Eva Manga: So....ever since I saw the it on the cover of Asuka, like last year, I've been waiting for the Eva shoujo remake, found it, bought it, do not regret it. Oh, so awesome, already so slashy, and since it's Asuka, I hope it continues that way. Bring on the AU, bring it on.
Merlin: My new found love. Though it troubles me with the Arthur/Morgana and Merlin/Guinevere, excuse me, I mean the Merlin/Gwen. *eye roll* While it has an awesome premise, I'm worried it's mucking about the myth too much, and may end up with a Smallville problem, excellent gay subtext, crappy hetero overtext, what with the breaking up of the OTP. But, I spied Lancelot coming up!! Yay!! P.S. I love twat!Prince Arthur, and Giles!King Uthur. Oh BBC why must you make such awesomeness?
Heroes and Supernatural: The two U.S. shows I continue to follow and they're great. Heroes so far has started out running and has brought the WTF, and brought it strong. And don't you ever stop. SPN has upped the game and brought in SPOILERS!!:angels and it rocks. Along with brother drama and a ton of myth arc shit I am in for good now.
Fall Fashion: Just, I love gray, I love it. WHY MUST I BE POOR!!
Arashi: Words cannot express how they manage to always make me feel better, whether it's by watching them on TV three times a week (If I remember Saturday), youtube or just my music, and the concert DVD. Reading Nino's blog always makes me smile at work, mostly because he's gooooood at it, and is teh Awesome and he is my Gemininspiration (I have no idea how that would be pronounced, but yeah, Gemini + inspiration). While it is true that the speeds at which I would hit each on of them various from "speeding train" to "fist of an angry god", the main reason why I adore them on levels which sometimes scare even me, is just how natural they are together. Hell, it's what their famous for, they are the group that just loves being with each other. To paraphrase Nino himself: ''I got to see Arashi at the Arashi no Shukudai-kun filiming!' I say, even though I saw them two days ago. Somehow, even if it's just one day of drama shooting, if I do work alone, (of course he means, non-Arashi related work), I get that kind of feeling." But, even way back when I was Nagano, if I felt lonely, somehow they make me feel not so alone. Also, the saddest part of this, I wrote what was basically my graduation paper on how the idol system, specifically the Johnny's one, and how they manage to be so popular. But, in the end, I don't freaking care. XP~~~~~~~~~~

And now, my love of Arashi, in .gif format:
Translation: "Sho desu! Masaki desu! Jun desu! Satoshi desu! Kazunari desu! The five of us combined: Arashi desu!" Me: *iz ded desu*
Aiba's embarrassed because he's found out how hard I'd "hit it".
Other expressions found on
fandom_secrets that express the same thing: "ride it like I stole it", "like the fist of an angry god". Or, here's an orginal one: "hit it til rainbows come out." Which, the few of you who know Arashi, is an accurate expression.
Yeah.......................
Um, that concludes today's a shorter, but pictorial version of what makes Jenni not go EMO.
