OK, I guess this post's a long time coming..... 9_9
But where do I even start?
I want to basically talk about the current atmosphere of our fandom that I feel might be a bit stifling to some of us in terms of critiquing GACKT or anything related to GACKT. I feel like there's a trend in the fandom where people can't criticize anything he says or does ( Read more... )

LOLOL Oh, Billie, stop cracking me UP!!! X'DDDDD

Yeahhhh, it did get a bit out of hand... LOL
I had to stop the discussion halfway because I realized NOTHING I was going to say would be enough for people who didn't see my point (for whatever reason), and also because people started putting words in my mouth or saying off-the-mark things that really didn't have anything to do with what I said. But I was in a kind of awe for how far people would go to defend their POVs.
But I have to tell you, nobody was accusing me of anything. Just an endless barrage of "But why don't you think this?" "But isn't that taking too far?" etc. etc. So, it felt like endless blocks of tofu attacking me in the face over and over and over (so I ate them with soy sauce after cooking them with estrogen). :D

Oh, no, I agree with you that it's a natural tendency for people to defend their opinions by arguing. Especially in Western societies where it's often "Winner takes it all".
And I'm not saying "Let's not discuss", either. But I AM saying "Let's not argue" because an argument is done with the premise that the concerned parties are trying to prove who's right.
That's why I'm saying I'm all for discussions, but not arguments. I hate arguments. :p
I think people just need to always keep in mind that "I could be wrong". It's a sense of humility, really. To know that there are hundreds of thousands of different POVs about just about everything in the world, and there are no right or wrong POVs (although, perhaps 'misinformed'). If we can do that, then we can also talk about all kinds of things in the form of exchanging thoughts/ideas, rather than competition. And when that happens, people will also know when to quit, because they don't feel the need to 'beat' the other. That's what I want.

"I think he can take care of himself."

And YEEESSSSS, exactly.
He doesn't need his fans constantly defending him for things he may or may not have said or done. If he gets a backlash from his stupidity and motor mouth (stop dirty thought), then he'll just have to take it like a man, and I'm sure he'll be up for the task.
He's not a baby.
He's a 38(37?)-year-old uber-rich rock star who gets his ways in almost everything. And HE OWNS A MOUNTAIN......
