holy shit.

so!  yesterday, i was dicking around on craigslist and looking at openings in bands.  i found one for a reggae group that was forming based out of roanoke/franklin county, and they are looking for keyboards, horns, vocals, etc.  so i answered their little add, in which they sounded real laid back and, you know, reggae, so i tried to do the same, but i also stayed real honest, for Honesty's sake.  anyway, i got an e-mail today (as in the NEXT DAY).  correspondence, for your enjoyment, as under the cut...

To the guy:

I am a vocalist all about solid grooves.  Reggae is the shit, and I would love a chance to experiment on a jam.  I have a wide range, and can go falsetto, but am most comfortable with middle-range/alto.  I like to be creative and daring with my voice and try different runs and things.  I have been involved in music officially since I was twelve, playing saxophone for 2 years, electric bass for five, and singing for as long as I can remember.  I have a very keen fashion sense.

I'm taking one course at Hollins in the fall to finish up my undergraduate schooling, need to find a job, and get nervous singing in front of people, but once I get over it, it'll be smooth sailing.

Good luck and have a great summer, if I don't hear from you!

Peace,

Rachel Emery

Back to me:

Rachel,
We are definitely interested in having you come check us out and see what we can collaborate on. We are practicing next Thursday at my house in Franklin County about 20 minutes south of Roanoke.  It is possible that you might be able to carpool with one of our members from Roanoke if you can make it out that night.  If not, we'll work something else out. Let us know what you think.

Take it easy.

Beau

So, is it sketchy to go there?  do i do this?  who wants to be my groupie?
